Psychologist - North Of Lebanon

General: Aiming to support social stabilization efforts in Lebanon and to enhance the psychosocial wellbeing of affected communities, IOM plans to expand its psychosocial activities in North of Lebanon. In the North of Lebanon, IOM plans to establish a multidisciplinary psychosocial team responsible of assessing the MHPSS needs and design and implement psychosocial intervention to respond to the assessed needs. The psychosocial activities will be designed in coordination with IOM social stability activities. The psychosocial team will organize workshops and induction sessions, community mobilization events, awareness sessions on non-violent communication and small scale conflict management and community-based conflict mediation targeting youth (Syrian refugees, Lebanese returnees and hosting communities). Further, induction sessions on Mental Health and Psychosocial considerations to humanitarian workers will be organized with the aim of mainstreaming mental health and psychosocial support within IOM’s general service provision. Moreover, IOM psychosocial activities will be linked with livelihood and social stabilization activities focusing on resilience. Referral of vulnerable individuals who need specialized services will be conducted, in coordination with MHPSS actors working in North of Lebanon   In the frame of the activities of the project “Multi-sector Assistance to Support Displaced Persons and Host Communities in Lebanon” under the overall supervision of the Head of the IOM Mission in Lebanon, and in coordination with the Emergency Response and Stabilization Coordinator, the supervision of the Psychosocial Program Manager, and the direct supervision of the psychosocial program coordinator, the incumbent will:   Provide counselling services for families and individuals Identify severe cases that require specialized intervention and refer them to the specialized mental health professionals Coordinate with the team members as to referring cases that need to be integrated within the psychosocial animation groups Provide psychosocial first aid to the affected population in case of sudden/on-going emergency Report on the sessions conducted/ cases referral and follow up Map the existing needs and participate in the psychosocial assessment Organize support groups and forums for the population Participate in organizing workshops and induction sessions, community mobilization events, awareness sessions on non-violent communication and small scale conflict management and community-based conflict mediation targeting youth (Syrian refugees, Lebanese returnees and hosting communities) in coordination with the team members. any other duty as may be assigned

b) Psychology graduate, Post-graduate studies in Psychosocial animation in post emergency settings, psychosocial support and dialogue, clinical or counselling psychology.
c) At least 2 years of previous experiences in counselling in emergencies.

a) good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills; b) ability to draft clearly and concisely; c) demonstrated gender awareness and gender sensitivity; c) ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds; d) ability to work under pressure e) personal commitment, efficiency, flexibility and drive for results; f) Proficiency in Office applications, including Word and Excel, internet explorer and basic knowledge of SPSS.
