Senior Engineer

OBJECTIVES: GVC is seeking a senior engineer for its programming. The Senior Engineer will be responsible for assisting the organization and the Programme Manager to find new projects, do assessments, have analytical mind to support in needs identification, new proposal writing, and follow up of ongoing activities. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Supervision the progress of social activities finalizes to a good water management awareness; Analyse the problematic of water management in Lebanon and work with GVC to strengthen and support local authorities; Guarantee smooth implementation of activities between the Contractors, Communities and local authorities; Guarantee that all the technical documentation is properly filled, updated and classified; Ensure strategic planning and quality analysis of the all technical activities; Be autonomous in managing issues related to the program; Report to and discuss with the PM any issues which may have a direct impact on the general implementation of the project and the organisation’s activities in the area; Plan and organize weekly plan and meetings with the engineers; Maintain good working relations with beneficiaries, contractors, authorities and all stakeholder involved in the project; Cooperate and coordinate with other GVC personnel; Guarantee open and continues dialogue with the social activity coordinator; Work in collaboration with the social activity coordinator to make sure that there is integration in between the programs; Contribute to identify new project in the sector and prepare technical documentation and project proposals; Participate in coordination meeting held in the GVC Offices. Participate in Sectorial WGs meetings; Any other task not here listed and necessary to the projects and activities The engineer is a GVC representative, and at all times is responsible for representing GVC appropriately to the community. PERSONAL AND INTER-PERSONAL SKILLS Arabic and Fluency in written and spoken English Good communication skills (with local authorities and communities) Understanding of and commitment to humanitarian principles and values Highly organised and able to work respecting deadlines Strong sense of responsibility, flexibility and willingness to work long hours Ability to work independently while at the same time cooperating with other staff members as well as beneficiaries Deep knowledge of Bekaa environment would be considered an asset Being flexible and with the ability to adjust to changes and new requirements
