Water And Sanitation Assistant

These attitudes and believes shall guide our actions and relationships. 1.      Role and responsibilities Generic responsibilities These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work and Development plan. Facilitate water and sanitation (Watsan) related activities and ensure compliance with plans and NRC guidelines. Mentor WASH focal points in settlements ensuring they are able and engaged in watsan activities such as maintenance and plumbing. Engage with WASH-CSMC community members ensuring there are included in the WASH intervention Familiarize yourself with new methods and approaches in order to improve the quality of the watsan activities Perform transect-walks together with focal points assuring quality control of the activities, services Report all protection related concerns following standard operating procedures (SOPs) Participate in data collection, KAP surveys, PDMs Ensure registration and inclusion of new refugees, report referrals and ensure follow up and feedback to refugees and focal points involved. Report activities using distribution lists, field reports, attendance lists and Kobo online activity reporting Contribute to quality improvements of the NRC WASH program Any other task requested by the line manager.  Specific responsibilities Monitor water and sanitation facilities acceptance and beneficiary satisfaction in accordance with the M&E work plan Share your skills and experience within the team and learn from your colleagues. Be aware of the importance of good relationships with the communities in and outside of informal settlements Conduct phone calls. Conduct rapid and precise assessments. Data entry background. Critical interfaces By interfaces, NRC means processes and projects that are interlinked with other departments/units or persons. Relevant interfaces for this position are: Shelter: coordinate in close collaboration with Shelter in relation to shelter activities in informal settlements. CSMC: day-to-cay coordination and collaboration with CSMC team with joint-field visits, referrals, etc. ICLA: ensuring the team is ready to deal with referral cases and follow up communication with beneficiaries 2.      Competencies Competencies are important in order for the employee and the organisation to deliver desired results. They are relevant for all staff and are divided into two categories: Professional competencies Qualifications: Vocational training in site-construction works, Vocational training in plumbing, infrastructural works Generic professional competencies: Experience from working with water and sanitation projects in a humanitarian context Knowledge of plumbing, water networks Handling insecure environments Teamwork, able to engage with WASH committees, refugees, communities. Delivering results Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities Mobile electronic data collection (KoboCollect) Some knowledge of English (speaking and writing) Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience: Experience with engaging with (WASH) committees and surrounding communities a plus Able to communicate with impact and respect while dealing with a sometimes stressful environment Behavioral competencies Managing resources and achieving results Communicating with impact and respect Working with people Coping with cultural differences 3.      Performance Management The employee will be accountable for the responsibilities and the competencies, in accordance with the NRC Performance Management Manual.
