Social Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Mapping Consultant

Project Name: Social Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Mapping in Lebanon Project Summary: DOT Canada has been awarded a 4 year grant by the Canadian government to implement a Social Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship project (Digital Livelihoods - DL) in several countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and the MENA regions As such, DOT is undergoing an organizational shift towards social entrepreneurship through enablement of grassroots, community-oriented businesses involving youth as key decision-makers. The social innovation product design is currently under development by a consultancy firm and it will be prototyped by DOT in Jordan and Kenya. In parallel, as a first step of implementing future programs in Lebanon, there is a need to understand better the social entrepreneurship ecosystem and the intent of the mapping exercise is to learn about the existing and potential stakeholders that can contribute to the Social Entrepreneur journey mainly in the remote and vulnerable communities of Lebanon. Partnering with UNESCO, Makesense, Berytech, LLWB and DOT Lebanon; will be allocating a team in the following governorates: Akkar, North, Bekaa, South and Nabatiyeh. Beirut and Mount Lebanon as part of this ecosystem mapping. Specific objective of the consultancy: Consolidate data findings and information gathered by DOT Lebanon and Partner teams in Lebanon.    Analyze data by area and provide recommendations per area.  Analyze data nationally and provide recommendations on a national level. Draft a narrative report (15 to 20 pages) in English, clearly highlighting the mapping findings and clearly state each areas resources and needs increasing its visibility to wider audiences, at a national and international level. The audiences can include donors, local and international partners, ministries, United Nations and government agencies, media, etc; Incorporate DOT Lebanon and Partners feedback and finalize the final narrative report in English. Timeline: Approximately two weeks Task Estimated Number of working Days Meeting with committee members to discuss the objectives and deliverables of the consultancy, ½ day Narrative report Writing (15 to 20 pages) in English, and submitting the draft report to DOT point person, who will review and will be coordinating with Partners  for feedback 6 day provides feedback to the consultant on the draft report 1/½ Days not compensated Incorporating feedback on the draft report, and submitting a final report in English 3 days Total Days 11   The consultant is expected to provide services between of Mid-October till Mid-November, for 12 consecutive working days. Timeline details will be discussed and agreed with the chosen candidate in due time. Payment Terms and Delivery Schedule: The Consultant is expected to complete and submit the deliverables specified below as per the identified time schedule. Expected overall duration for project completion is 1 month. Deliverables Due Date Payment terms First Draft End of October 2016 50% Final Report Mid-November 2016 50%   It is essential for interested candidates to have and be able to demonstrate the following: Qualifications: 1.      Advanced degree in Business Administration, Economics, Or 2.      Bachelor Degree in Economics, Human Services, Business administration with at least five years progressive experience in the field of Business Startups, Entrepreneurship or a similar discipline. Skills: Excellent English and grammar skills. Creative and strong writing skills Clear and concise writing style. Ability to analyze large data and provide narrative findings of particular data.   Strong planning and organizational skills. Strong eye for details Ability to deliver with quality and accuracy in a timely manner. Languages: Excellent Command in English and Arabic (reading, writing, and Speaking) French is desirable but not essential  Experience: At least 3 to 5 years previous experience in Entrepreneurship, Startups, or similar projects.
