General Description
International Relief and Development (IRD) is an international charitable, non-for-profit, non-governmental organization that collaborates with local and international partners to design and implement humanitarian relief and development aid programs. IRD’s mission is to reduce the suffering of the world’s most vulnerable groups and provide tools and resources needed to increase their self-sufficiency. IRD was founded in 1998 and has grown over the past decade into an organization that is operating in many countries across the world.
IRD has been present in Lebanon since 2006, and the first activities included assistance to poor rural households in southern Lebanon adversely affected by the July War. Currently, IRD implements projects in Lebanon within the context of Syrian crisis supporting civil society organizations, Syrian and Iraqi refugees, and Lebanese host communities.
Specific Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Grants Coordinator, the Grants Assistant is responsible for overall administrative support to the grants component of the FCO-funded project; the specific duties include:
Assistance to the Grants Coordinator in all aspects of the grants process, including the review and selection of recipients, background research, the award process, and grant implementation and follow-up.
Assistance in maintaining the grants database and the tracking system for all stages of proposal process, as well as for gathering required documentation per grant award.
Assistance gathering relevant materials and documents to support project implementation, and synthesizing or aggregating data into chart or written format as needed.
Assistance in preparing vouchers for expenditures and supporting documents for payments; ensuring that expenses are reasonable and eligible to the program.
Schedule meetings, prepare meeting minutes, and draft external and internal grant-related communication and other administrative duties.
Reporting on all grants related issues to Grants Coordinator, including in-country relevant legislation, financial procedures, banking, etc.
Other duties as assigned by Grants Coordinator and/or Program Manager
Qualifications/Desired Skills:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
2 or more years of experience working at a local or international NGO
Ability to work simultaneously on multiple tasks in a fast-paced working environment
Very organized with attention to detail and follow-up
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Working proficiency of English and Arabic is a must
Knowledge of Microsoft Suite
