Agriculture Activity Manager

MISSION Goal / Purpose: Under the supervision of the Basic Assistance Program Manager, the Agriculture Activity Manager will lead with his/her team for a timely implementation of Micro-gardening activities, and will ensure that SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL’s quality standards are met and proposes adjustments or developments to ensure relevance if necessary. GENERAL RESPONSABILITIES Implementing the activities and meeting the objectives and targets as defined in the project proposal Supervise the agriculture team   TASKS Project design and conception Participate in the identification of gaps and new areas of intervention Participate in the preparation and implementation of assessments of new activities Participate in the design and the financial dimension of the human and logistical programs to implement Support program design by consolidating and disseminating to BA Program Manager relevant information from the field Suggest new activities/improvement to activities in accordance with context and feedback from the agriculture  team   Project Implementation Ensure the timely implementation of the Micro-gardening activities according to the set objectives, SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL standards, best practice coming from the Food Security Working Group and the Micro-gardening SOPs: Ensure  that the objectives and targets for the activities under his/her responsibility are achieved and the deadlines are met Regularly visit the targeted sites Facilitate in collaboration with SI relevant department(s) community mobilization around the project Lead the design of soil-less agriculture activities building on SI experience in other countries and peer agencies  best practice in Lebanon Design skill building tools conduct training in targeted sites/with communities and identify external support needed to fulfil to skill building component of the project Identify and anticipate any risks and constraints related to the Micro-gardening activities and propose alternate strategies to the Program Manager In collaboration with the Program manager, adapt the beneficiary/sites selection methodology as necessary, in particular, the selection criteria Assess the relevance of activities, the effectiveness of interventions, and their appropriateness through monitoring form in light of changing circumstances and the needs of populations, propose adjustments to programs if necessary Use the SI management and monitoring tools for the activities, results and context Support the  Program Manager with the assessment of human needs, logistical and financial resources needed at different stages of the activities Ensure that the safety of persons and equipment at intervention/project sites is guaranteed     Team management Take part in the recruitment of agriculture officers With the administrative department, define the prerequisites for the  vacant positions and, if necessary, adapt the referent job profile Welcome and brief new employees working under his/her responsibility Organize regular meetings and workshops with team members Manage, build capacity and support the team under his/her responsibility Supervise and monitor potential conflicts within the teams and inform the  Program Manager in case of problem Identify any training/capacity building needs and implement training activities in accordance with operational requirements. Liaise with the BA Program Manager in case additional capacity building is needed Ensure that the teams are well aware of all changes affecting the population of interest and the teams are able to properly refer cases and are able to distribute appropriate hotline numbers of different agencies Evaluate the performance of the members of his/her team through the EAP Identify team members’ potential for advancement and it to the  BA Program Manager Monitor teams to ensure that they are adhering to health and safety regulations Ensure respect of SI’s charter and code of conduct.   Monitoring and evaluation Collaborate with the Program Manager, (and the monitoring team) adapt the monitoring tools and     methodologies as necessary Collaborate with the MEAL team/Complaints & referral officer to ensure beneficiaries complaints and feedback are properly handled/answered Collaborate with MEAL team and BA PM to ensure learning, capitalization and use of good practices.   Reporting Report weekly the  activities of his/her team to the Program Manager using the appropriate tool and forms Report the monthly progress to the Program Manager Report any problems or information that could affect the projects/activities or the security of the teams to the Program Manager Participate to the donor reporting.   Communication and representation Maintain a local operational communication network and positive relations with the local/governmental authorities, donor representatives, UN and other international agencies in cooperation with the Program Manager and Field Coordinator Represent SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL in collaboration with the Program Manager for the projects/activities to the relevant bodies: local authorities, sector, partners, … within his/her employment location Maintain a good coordination with the different departments within SI.   The above list is non-exhaustive and may be extended to include reasonable tasks and responsibilities within the framework of the project at the request of the Basic Assistance Program Manager.   CANDIDATE PROFILE Previous experience in Agriculture/Agronomy Previous team management experience Previous experience in humanitarian field is preferable Good analytical ability Good reporting skills Leadership skills and teaching abilities Strong social and communication skills Calm, diplomatic, understanding problem solver and patient Sound knowledge of office softwares Knowledge of the implementation zone (T+5 & Akkar) Valid driving license   ORGANIZATIONAL CHART POSITION Reporting and functional relationships Line manager: Basic Assistance Program Manager
