The American University of Beirut (AUB) - Nature Conservation Center (NCC) is seeking a Research Associate for our Citizen Science for Improved Integrated Solid Waste Management program. The program works to characterize, optimize, assess, and implement scalable solutions in Bar Elias, Kab Elias and Marj municipalities for developing an integrated Solid Waste Management plan (ISWM). The objective is to provide economically sustainable models where revenues (or savings) can sustain the operational costs which include job creation for some of the village residents. Ideally, the Research Associate would have strong experience working with communities in a project based atmosphere.
Project will mobilize within 1 month.
Qualifications:
Background
BS or MS preferably in a technical field
5-10 years of experience with a BS, 5-7 years of experience with an MS
Experience creating efficient transportation plans preferable
Experience with resource microeconomics desirable
General Skills
Ability to work independently and under pressure, while meeting deadlines, is a must
Team oriented
Exceptional interpersonal skills
Technical writing
Project planning
Experience preparing paperwork for the International Review Board (IRB) preferable
Pays strong attention to detail
Fluent in Arabic and English
Tasks:
Coordinate with local authorities and community members on a regular biases
Conduct necessary field work in three towns in Beqaa
Interview and survey community members
Collect data and sampling as needed
Prepare Technical reports and IRB paperwork
