Hygiene Promotion Field Officer (Several Positions Available)

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Under the supervision of the Hygiene Promotion Field Supervisor, the Hygiene Promotion Field Officer participates in hygiene campaigns, door to door hygiene promotion. S/he prepares written material and clear and adapted messages for the beneficiaries. S/he distributes hygiene items and is able to prepare hygiene promotion plans. The Community Mobiliizer may support other WaSH activities as well.  KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS Bachelor in Public Health, Social sciences, Education or related fields Strong communication skills, used to speak in front of an audience and able to work dynamically with children and adults Experience in hygiene promotion Work experience with local communities, children and vulnerable people Experience in community mobilization and participation Initiative Availability/ Capacity to learn Ability to work under pressure and in a multi-cultural environment Ability to work in a team, interpersonal skill and diplomacy Rigorous and organized Fluent in Arabic and excellent English  Computer skills : Microsoft Office, especially Excel DETAILED OBJECTIVES AND TASKS Objective 1 : Elaboration of Hygiene Promotion Material Identify the most appropriate messages for the target population ** Formulate clear and understandable messages ** Identify the material needed for a campaign/activity ** Identify problems and provide sustainable changes of WaSH Knowledge, Aptitudes and Practices to the local communities. Objective 2 : House to house visits and hygiene campaign Mobilize the community to change behaviour regarding hygiene practices. Create and follow up WaSH committees and their performance in the informal settlements ** Convince all households of the importance of good hygiene practices ** Ensure the work is properly done and the material used wisely ** Take part in hygiene campaigns, do shows in schools and at community level ** Animate focus groups, give clear messages on good hygiene practice. Objective 3 : Reporting Report the progress of the work to the supervisor ** Report any problem or conflict during the activities ** Report the use of materials and possible improvements ** Collect datas regarding the project and potential beneficiaries ** Report regularly to the supervisor Objective 4 : Other Water and Sanitation activities Conduct household assesment ** Distribute water and sanitation items ** Support other WaSH related activities Objective 5 : Security Respect the security rules specified in the mission and base security plan and perform the security management tasks that can be assigned in its protocols ** Communicate to the security managers of the working location any security related information or non-compliance with the security plan Objective 6 : Support to ACF humanitarian goals Support emergency interventions, as per the employee's capacities ** Support any activity that helps achieving ACF humanitarian goals, as per the employee's capacities
