Background
The position of External Relations Intern is based in UNHCR Zahle Sub-Office. The main instruments for the External Relation Unit in the Bekaa are threefold:
1. Organize and assist visits of foreign delegations, donor countries and media to refugee sites in the region;
2. Prepare briefing notes and compile information to be disseminated to external parties as communication materials; and
3. Compile information from inter-agency coordination meetings, inter-sector coordination meetings and other relevant meetings.
The External Relations Intern works in close collaboration with team members from other units in the Sub-Office as well as in Beirut Office.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Support office in organizing delegation and media visits:
Help identify appropriate sites for the visits;
Help identify needed beneficiaries to meet with;
Produce briefing notes for visitors;
Assist in other planning needs as required.
2. Support office in communication material:
Assist in the preparation of media lines;
Support in media monitoring activities as needed;
Identify stories and topics to cover.
3. Support office in compiling information;
Support in maintaining, and extracting information;
Assist in the preparation of meeting minutes, presentations and briefing material for external use;
Produce various products as required to consolidate as weekly/ monthly/ quarterly reports.
3. Any other activity as reasonably requested by the supervisor;
Undertake other duties that may be required by the Head of Office, or External Relations Officer
Participate in field missions.
