Role and responsibilities
The following is a brief description of the role.
Generic responsibilities:
These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work and Development plan.
Comply with Financial Handbook and other NRC policies
Verify that all vouchers and supporting documents are according to standards set in the Financial Handbook, and enter them into the accounting system
Make approved payments
Record all cash movements
Follow up on advances and refunds
Prepare and arrange for bank withdrawals and transfers and present for verification
Maintain the filling system for all financial and accounting documents
Ensure that expenditure from the main account are accounted in appropriate budget lines and on relevant projects
Specific responsibilities
These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.
Daily Bookkeeping, Utilizing the NRC Agresso Accounting System.
Manage office petty cash
Ensure sufficient cash in the bank and in the cash boxes
Assist the Finance Officer in the month end accounting closing process, ensuring accuracy and completeness of the ledger and all supporting documentation.
Support the Finance Officer in the preparation of the monthly financial report
Monthly recording of VAT for all invoices and keeping a copy of each.
Provide scanned copies of payments related to other countries.
Performs other duties as assigned by Finance Officer, FM and HOS
Critical interfaces
By interfaces, NRC means processes and projects that are interlinked with other departments/units or persons. Relevant interfaces for this position are:
Work closely with Logistics on PR’s and PO’s
To liaise with other departments when payments are due for the issuance of payment.
Ensure donor compliance is adhered to in all payment request

Generic professional competencies:
Ordinary National BA in Business Administration / Finance Major
Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant work experience
Experience from working with accounting/auditing in a humanitarian/recovery context
Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
Good knowledge of English
