Communication Officer

  Overview   The Lebanese Association for Democratic Elections (LADE) was founded in Lebanon by a number of activists in the public sector on March 13, 1996. LADE is a civil, independent and nonprofit organization specialized in elections and how closely they are linked to democracy.    The association is concerned with monitoring the elections in their different forms as well as studying the electoral systems and laws according to the international democratic electoral standards, especially standards that guarantee free, fair and transparent elections. Responsibilities and overall tasks: Produce daily press previews (production, circulation and archiving); Update social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.); Report and provide input from the social media POV for overall marketing efforts of the campaigns and work flow; Assist with the implementation of the strategic development plan of the department; Help creating the weekly and monthly newsletters (internal, external); Take part in the brainstorming, launching and implementation of the upcoming campaigns and events; Help organize press conferences (by inviting media by all means: phone, emails and faxes, preparing press kits, organizing attendance sheets, etc.) Archive the media coverage of all the initiatives and events organized by LADE and its other platforms; Archive LADE’s media appearances; Help drafting the materials to be issued for the media (press releases, invitations, etc...); Draft, edit and post newsfeed and content(texts and images) on the website as well as LADE’s mobile application; Help restructuring LADE’s website; Update the mailing list (including mailing information on NGO networks, partners, donors, volunteers, and members); Assist in creating videos for audience development purposes to bridge the key messages of the audience and outreach projects; Assist with certain press opportunities – press releases, sponsorship opportunities, etc. Assist with designs and visuals within LADE’s identity; Assist in the production of advertisements, press releases, and promotional materials; Initiate new fundraising, marketing and communication ideas; Undertake specific research (when needed) to help bring new supporters on board e.g. celebrities, corporate, new events; Prepare periodic progress reports when needed; Create and maintain the database, in coordination with other staff & project coordinators; Fulfill other tasks requested by the Communication Coordinator or the Executive Director. BASIC REQUIREMENTS: A. Academic & Technical: Excellent communication skills Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English (French is a plus) Completed a college degree in a related field (e.g., Journalism, Radio, TV and Film, Marketing/Communications, Public Relations) Excellent IT skills, as well as experience with graphics and photo/film editing softwares. B. Personal skills: A fair understanding of the Lebanese political context and electoral systems. A basic knowledge of the NGO sector Familiarity with LADE’s work Good presentation skills Innovative approach to the development of communications tools.
