Social Worker In Beirut

General objective of the position   The social worker identifies and refers children at risk and/or victims of violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation within the WCH Lebanon Program. S/he is responsible to plan and deliver child protection activities, including child safety support across program locations.     Place in the organisation   The social worker is part of the Program Implementation Department, reporting to the Program Implementation Manager or a project coordinator. They may be part of a technical support unit within the Program Implementation Department. S/he does not manage staff. S/he collaborates with the specialists within the Program Development Department.     Result area   Supporting the needs of at-risk children   Contribute to the development of an outreach plan Supports community-based organisations to raise awareness on child protection Coordinates with case workers to prepare topics for awareness sessions Identifies at-risk children and arranges referrals Provides the Child Protection Specialist with information regarding the available services and organizations operating in program areas Ensures child protection concerns are communicated to the Child Protection working groups Participates in the monitoring of child protection in projects.     Result: At risk children are identified and referred by community members, WCH staff and staff of partners.       Providing skill and capacity building   Plans, organizes, conducts and documents awareness sessions for refugee communities (parents, care-givers and children)  Conducts focus group meetings with children, parents and community informants Provides technical support on child protection     Result: Communities are aware of Child Safety and Protection, members of community-based organisations have the needed skills and capacity and cases are reported and addressed.        Administration tasks   Develops and maintains a filing system of attendees Formulates monthly reports on referrals, awareness sessions, focus groups, child protection/child safety incidents and concerns. Any other task assigned by the line manager     Result: administration of activities are handled effectively and efficiently and all reports meet or exceed minimum standards.       Knowledge and Experience   Degree in social work or related field Good knowledge of child rights and child protection including child protection principles. Good understanding of psychosocial support At least 2 years of relevant experience working with children/refuges/vulnerable populations   Skills and Competencies   Strong inter-personal skills Strong communication skills Good computer skills Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a team Fluency in Arabic Good English skills Flexibility Cultural sensitivity       “Commitment to the vision and goals of War Child Holland in Lebanon, including adherence to the Child Safety Policy, is essential”
