Child Protection Specialist

Job Summary This is a management position in Concern’s Education Programme. The purpose of the position is to support the implementation of the child protection component of a non-formal education programme in Akkar and T5 districts, for Syrian refugee and vulnerable Lebanese children. With the guidance of the Education Programme Manager and Education Project Manager, the position will contribute to the Education programme’s protection strategy and lead the implementation of psycho-social support (PSS) activities. The position will be based within the Concern Halba office, but with frequent travel to the project sites. Duties and Responsibilities With the support of the Education Programme Manager, provide protection-related strategic direction and planning for the programme in line with Concern Worldwide’s Education Policy, sector strategy and organizational strategy, and the government’s strategy and donor requirements. Participate in the preparation of weekly and monthly work plans which reflect timely implementation of PSS activities, as requested by the Education Programme Manager and Project Manager. Provide technical input and produce materials to improve PSS and other protection-related activities on an on-going basis, as is required in the programme. Actively collaborate with Concern’s Protection team to ensure Education programming is in line with the organisation’s protection strategy and standards. Attend professional development trainings as required. Represent Concern in interagency forums and education/protection working groups as necessary. Fulfil other tasks as requested by the Education Programme Manager.  Adhere to the standards of conduct outlined in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct. Develop PSS manual for Concern’s non-formal education (NFE) programme, which should include age-appropriate PSS activities for children aged 6-14. Actively participate in Training of the Trainers (TOT) workshops for Education staff and oversee the delivery of the training to NFE educators/facilitators at field level using the established module. Ensure that the following development and cross cutting approaches are incorporated into program implementation: protection, equality (with a special focus on gender equality) and risk (including HIV&AIDS and Disaster Risk Reduction) and that vulnerability criteria for selection of programme areas and project participants are applied and adhered to. General Duties   Adhere to Concern’s Program Participant Protection Policy (PPPP) and Concern’s Code of Conduct; Support and promote Concern’s Program Participant Protection Policy (PPPP) and Concern Code of Conduct to Livelihoods programme team, partner organizations and beneficiaries; Fulfil other tasks as requested by the Livelihoods manager.   Skills, Qualifications, and Experience Required Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, or a similar field from a reputable university 3-5 years working experience in education,  social work, or psychology Working and/or academic experience in Early Childhood Development Working and/or academic experience in Social Work or Psychology 1-2 years of management experience, preferably with an NGO or UN agency Strong written and spoken English mandatory, fluent in Arabic Strong computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Office, Word, Power Point and Excel Ability to be pro-active with tasks and duties, foreseeing challenges and delays Strong empathy skills and genuine care and respect for needs of others especially children refugees Commitment to Concern equal opportunity and gender practices, Concern’s Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern’s accountability commitments Participant Protection Policy and Concern’s accountability commitments. Experience working within non-formal education and education in emergencies a plus.
