Psychologist-Child And Family - North Office

ROLE PURPOSE:  Under the direct supervision of the Child Protection Officer and with the technical support of the MEE RO MHPSS Specialist, the psychologist will provide the psychosocial support needed for children and their families identified through activities of child protection, hygiene and education.  He/She will also be the technical backstop to all field staff when conducting activities with children.   SCOPE OF ROLE:  Reports to:  Child Protection Officer Staff directly reporting to this post: None KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:  Contribute in the design of child and family assessments and psychometrics tools and supervise their administration. Develop a detailed monthly action plan for the main psychosocial activities to be conducted. Technically supervise and support project’s field staff on providing basic psychosocial support for children through material review and approval, trainings, and on site observation and debriefing sessions. Conduct one to one and group counseling and awareness sessions with children and families referred from project’s sites and case managers Assist SC team in developing and documenting a replicable psychosocial model Assist SC team in developing MHPSS M&E tools Refer severe cases to appropriate psychological/psychiatric service providers Help implement and supervise a case management system  Help in the capacity building of SC Staff across development and humanitarian program   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE A university degree in psychology, Masters Degree preferred. 2-3 years of experience in family and/or child counselling, experience in working with migrants and refugees is an asset. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including team leading and influencing. Extensive experience in delivering trainings. Excellent written and oral communication skills in Arabic and English are required. Comfortable with high levels of ambiguity and able to take decisions independently in fluid context. Experience with refugee/marginalized communities desired. Commitment to Save the Children values and Child Safeguarding.
