Part-Time Financial Officer

Founded in 2008, Social Media Exchange (SMEX) is a registered Lebanese nonprofit that conducts training, research, and advocacy on strategic communications and human rights in a digital world. Our mission is to promote expanded and informed participation of the more than 300 million people living in Middle East and North African countries as they push for more just, equitable, and democratic societies. Job description: SMEX is recruiting a part-time financial officer (20 hours a week) to be able to manage and analyze accounting data and prepare financial reports. Key responsibilities: Refine accounting procedures and controls with NGO directors Enter transactions and reconcile SMEX accounts with accounting software Organize and maintain document files, both online and offline, for supporting financial transactions Prepare and evaluate requests for bids; contact clients/suppliers for payment collection Prepare budgets and track spending for SMEX projects and programs Ensure compliance with standard accounting procedures and deadlines for Lebanese NGOs Light administrative and/or logistical tasks   Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting Good command of English, and Arabic; French is an asset At least two years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
