PSYCHOLOGIST
International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC), headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland is the official humanitarian relief agency of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America. Since its inception in 1992, IOCC has delivered more than $488 million in relief and development programs to families and communities in more than 50 countries.
IOCC seeks a Part-time Psychologist who will be responsible for implementing psychosocial activities with Assyrian refugees’ children in Hadath center.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Develop a psychosocial support session plan and conduct psychosocial activities for children.
Examine the role of the traumatic experience in the context of the child’s life, currently and historically, and enhance the child’s coping mechanisms.
Do class observation and follow up with the animators on specific challenging cases.
Hold a weekly meeting with the animators and Program Coordinator to follow up on the children status and psychosocial intervention.
Cooperate closely with parents in order to make the psychosocial support more efficient.
Create and manage a file for each child in order to report or track his/her psychological progress.
Identify protection concerns (distress, SGBV, domestic violence) and provide psychosocial support to cases of concern.
Make necessary and timely referrals when needed, respecting confidentiality and the beneficiary’s right
Ensure timely reporting of the activities to the Program Coordinator.
Build the capacity of animators on psychological issues.
Perform other duties as required or assigned
Qualifications
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
Good organizational skills.
Advanced knowledge in psychosocial / psychological interventions (Child protection, Sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), art therapy etc...)
Dynamic personality.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English; French is a plus.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Self-motivated and initiative taker.
Good report writing skills.
Ability to communicate with vulnerable populations.
Experience:
3 years of work experience.
Previous experience in NGO and humanitarian field is an advantage.
Previous experience in working with children and vulnerable populations is an advantage.
Working Conditions
Stationed in Hadath, with frequent visits to IOCC office.
Preferable that candidate resides in Beirut-Mt Lebanon area.
