    Job Title Field Coordinator - Beirut and Bekaa Reports to Senior Projects Officer Job location Beirut and Bekaa Grade and level 4.2 Annual Salary Competitive annual salary based on our salary scale for Lebanese nationals Contract Duration 10 months with possibility of extension Employment Status As it is unlikely that we will be able to obtain a Work Permit for this role, all job applicants must already have the right to work in Lebanon.     Job Purpose   The post holder will be responsible for representing, coordinating and implementing Alert’s projects and events in Beirut and the Bekaa. She/he will coordinate project activities and undertake all logistical preparations required for the proper implementation of projects. The post holder will lead on several dialogue sessions held in the Bekaa in order to set up a suitable mechanism of mitigating or preventing tensions, as well as organise four parliamentary sessions in Beirut in an effort to establish a citizen consultation mechanism. The role of the post holder is to maintain and consolidate Alert’s relations with local partners, authorities and influential people. The post also includes support in research and focus groups conducted in the Bekaa. She/he will work closely with the Senior Projects Officer the Project Advisor and who will provide content-based support and supervision.   Duties and Responsibilities   1.     Project Coordination   Responsible for the implementation of a political dialogue project in the Bekaa by Alerts’ standards; Work closely with project partners and local actors in the Bekaa in order to ensure proper coordination of activities; Take the lead on all logistical preparations required for dialogue sessions and other activities in Bekaa; Support in research and focus group efforts and collection of quantitative/qualitative data; Maintain positive relationships and regularly update relevant authorities and local actors; Assist in the logistical preparations required to conduct four parliamentary dialogue sessions in Beirut in coordination with project partners. Document the dialogue process and prepare the events' agenda and minutes. Stay abreast with socio-political developments in the Bekaa and Lebanon generally,     2.     Project design, monitoring and evaluation   Collect and capture relevant information discussed during dialogue sessions and assist in dissemination of materials (dissemination events, printing, etc.); Support on setting an appropriate monitoring and evaluation system; Report to The Senior Projects Officer and will work closely with the Project Advisor, the Dialogue Facilitator and the Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Officer based in Beirut, and the Senior Programme Design and Assessment Officer (SPDAO) for MENA, based in London.   3.     Contributing to Alert’s organisational processes and strategies   Represent Alert’s values and ideas and be a spokesperson for the organisation at relevant conferences, seminars and other meetings; Any other task relevant to the position.   PERSON SPECIFICATION   Talents   At Alert, we have introduced Talent Management to our business model as we believe talented people are crucial to the success of our work.  We believe all individuals are talented and success comes in matching the right talents to the right roles.  For this role, the skills, qualifications and experience listed below are important, but we believe that to be great in this job you are likely to have a talent for building and sustaining strong working relationships.  This will enable you to build friendly relationship with highly committed colleagues and manage expectations. These are the talents we will be looking for above all else.         ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS     BA or equivalent in social and political sciences, human rights, or other relevant disciplines   Minimum 3 years of relevant experience working with a development organisation, including significant experience working at field level.   Good knowledge of Lebanese politics and understanding of the political and social context of Bekaa   Fluent in Arabic and English, excellent communication skills in Arabic are a must Able to influence and motivate others by making their case Demonstrates the ability to take the initiative Understands or has the ability to understand quickly Alert’s approach to peacebuilding Gets on well with people of diverse backgrounds and in diverse roles Is computer literate and numerate Excellent inter-personal, communication and presentation skills Skills and experience in projects implementation, monitoring, and evaluation   Proven knowledge and understanding of programme cycle management, information management and reporting Strong analytical skills A clear commitment to the mission and vision of International Alert           SUMMARY TERMS AND CONDITIONS   Annual Salary Competitive annual salary based on our salary scale for Lebanese nationals Benefits Private Medical insurance and NSSF Leave entitlement 25 working days per year plus Lebanon statutory holidays. Notice period There will be an initial three months probationary period during which notice will be 15 days on either side. On successful completion of the probationary period notice will be one month. Working hours Full time staff are expected to work a standard 40 hours per week, a maximum of 48 hours per week, with some flexibility around start and finish times to be agreed with the line manager. All staff are required to work core hours10am–4pm.
