humedica has been operating in Lebanon since 2012, and is currently funded by the German Foreign Office. humedica is running two Mobile Medical Units (MMUs), serving approximately 30 informal tented settlements (ITS) in the Bekaa valley, providing free primary health care and medication for Syrian refugees. In addition, humedica is supporting Primary Health Care Centers (PCHs) (under the administration of Ministry of Public Health) for both Lebanese and Syrian patients. humedica is recruiting a Medical Doctor, preferably full-time Monday to Friday, to join our MMU team in Central Bekaa. Main Tasks and Responsibilities: Medical consultation for common acute illnesses and dispensing acute medications in the informal tented settlements (ITS) Provide diagnosis and counselling to each patient and determining and take responsibility for follow up care needed. Treatment of uncomplicated infectious diseases (diarrhea, dysentery, STI etc.). Identify potentials of communicable disease outbreaks. Initial medical consultation and treatment for chronic diseases, referral to partner organization Medical Teams International (MTI). Stabilization services of emergency health conditions and immediate referrals to nearest PHC centers or hospitals after stabilization. Participate actively in the monitoring and the reporting of medical activities (correctly fill in patient files, forms, statistics, reports). Follow-Up on selected individual patients in coordination with Country Coordinator, Special Case Officer and Specialists Health promotion, including on health services available in the PHC centers and hospitals. Awareness and knowledge of referral options and pathways. Flexibility to support in other tasks related to MMU services if needed Minimum Requirements: Qualified Medical Doctor and license to practice in Lebanon Experience working with NGOs is helpful, but not mandatory High motivation for challenging and complex tasks and good common sense Strong skills in communication, mediation and cooperation Ability to work in challenging conditions (e.g. tent, weather, noise) and to cope with challenging security context Ability to work as part of a team and participate in all activities of the MMU Ability and willingness to work in a multi-cultural environment Flexibility, reliability Fluent Arabic and good English language skills are mandatory Conditions of Contract: Medical Doctor Position for currently 100% (40 hours/week) (preferred) One year contract with possibility of extension, desired starting date May 3, 2016 Working hours Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5pm Basic salary according to humedica salary scale, plus other benefits Post based in the humedica MMU in Zahle and Central Bekaa. With your team (doctor, pharmacist, field officer), you will visit one to two different tented settlements each day.
