Child Protection Officer

Objective of the job   The Child Protection (CP) Officer is responsible for the implementation, follow up of the child protection standards within WCH and for creating linkages between WCH CP programming and the (external) professional field.     The CP Officer ensures the quality of the WCH CP Programme all over Lebanon and contribute to the integral implementation of the CP approach in all the projects. S/he acts as the Focal point for partners of WCH for Child Safety (CS) and Child Protection (CP) programming. S/he Assess CP programming needs and anticipate CP rights violations, assessment and referral     Position within the organisation   The Child Protection Officer is part of the Quality Department and reports directly to the Child Protection Specialist.   She/he works closely with other Specialists within the country, with the CD, PMs and PCs and maintains other working relationships in the organisation when needed.   Result areas   Implementing and monitoring shared CP programming standards and methods   Based on WCH programming practice and international standards, ensures that WCH policy and standards for CP are implemented in the field. Based on Child Protection policy/standards; ensure that (creative) methods and tools are used for the implementation of WCH CP Programs in collaboration with the PSS and CP specialists Advises on CP program and project proposals (including those applying for institutional funds); Participates in maintaining an overview of quality of CP in WCH projects: status, methods used and results achieved; Reviews WCH reports and evaluations Supports the implementation of WCH Child Safety policy Generates overview of status and quality of Child Safety policy and implementation with partners     Result: CP standards and policies are implemented in such a matter that cover all the projects     2. Capacity Building   Provide Briefings, Training of Trainers; and competency building when needed and feasible. Provide ongoing support, guidance, advice to WCH Lebanon staff regarding CP and Child Safety. Provides ongoing support, guidance and advice to program staff in the field of Child Protection Supports partners in development and implementation of Child Safety policy   Result: Staff and partners are briefed and supported in such a matter that allows Child protections standards to be implemented     3. Coordination and representation    Liaises periodically with other thematic Specialists Ensures that Child Protection area connects with other WCH areas of work Ensures use of uniform methods, tools and forms in activities, training and PME. Represents WCH externally, in relevant platforms/networks focused on Child Protection themes Supports the identification and packaging of Child Protection advocacy issues Contribute to the development/revision of materials developed in working groups/platforms/networks   Result: Child protection is connected with other departments in such a matter that advocacy issues are identified and new material is developed   Knowledge and experience   Relevant academic background (Social Sciences / International Development Studies); Specialist knowledge of current principles and practices of Child Safety and Child Protection; Understanding of child rights (programming) in conflict and post conflict environments Minimum 3 years (I)NGO work in developing countries / conflict areas, preferably with children; Minimum 1 year in the field of CP and program implementation; Minimum 1 year in the field of Child Protection; Minimum 1 year in staff capacity building and experience in providing trainings Demonstrated experience in monitoring and evaluation of projects     Skills and Competencies   Ability to express oneself skilfully in written and oral English and fluent in Arabic. Strong critical analysis and strategic thinking skills; Planning and coordination ability; Monitoring and Evaluation ability; Ability to provide (creative/interactive) trainings; Excellent communication skills; ability to give and receive feedback; Affinity with children and young people; (Cultural) sensitivity; Result-oriented;
