Psychologist (2 Vacant Positions)

  General objective of the role To develop and implement the ‘duty of care’ component of War Child’s program, with the purpose to support the wellbeing of staff of partner organizations who implement War Child’s programs in the field. Duty of care refers to War Child’s attention to risks staff in the field are exposed to, that affect their personal health and safety, and the steps taken to avoid and mitigate the impact of those risks. The work of the psychologist will primarily involve developing local support systems for humanitarian staff to cope and manage feelings of distress and prevent negative coping mechanisms. Position in the organisation The Psychologist reports to the Project Coordinator and is part of the Programme Implementation Department. Essential functional relations: Programme Development Department especially the PSS Advisor.   Result Areas Identifies and develops local support systems and strategies for humanitarian staff to cope with and manage feelings of distress (might include a support ‘hotline’, peer support groups, and workshops on relevant topics) Trains and provides on- going support to local partners on how to use methods and tools to cope with distress and manage reactions. Identify existing resources for support and connect humanitarian workers to those existing resources Report on all above activities, while maintaining confidentiality, to line manager; Ensure that Child safety issues are reported and dealt with according to the Child Safety Policy;     Knowledge & Experience Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a relevant field; Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in working with an (I)NGO in an international/ humanitarian context; Degree in Psychology. A diploma in psychotherapy would be an asset; Background/contextual knowledge and sensitivity concerning conflict and humanitarian context;   Skills Fluency in Arabic required; proficiency in English  Team oriented, with ability to take own initiative and work independently; Cultural Sensitivity   “Commitment to the vision and goals of War Child Holland in Lebanon, including adherence to the Child Safety Policy, is essential”
