Community Mobilizer

JOB DESCRIPTION   All INTERSOS employees and consultant are expected to perform their roles and responsibilities according to INTERSOS Charter of Values and Code of Ethics. The job description is mandatory for all position within INTERSOS and shall be signed by employee within the first week of employment.   Job title           : Community Mobilizer Reports to        : Field Activities Officer Duty station     : South Lebanon, Nabatieh area Position type    : Full-time     Job purpose   The Community Mobilizer is responsible for delivering awareness sessions on Child Protection (CP), Gender Based Violence (GBV) and protection related concepts to adolescent and adults promoting a community based approach. He/she is also responsible of involving community members and community groups in organizing awareness activities with a peer approach. Moreover the community mobilizer facilitates the identification and referral of targeted beneficiaries in need of specialized services.   General Duties and responsibilities:   -       Plan and organise awareness sessions in the villages of intervention in collaboration with municipalities, Social Development Centers (SDCs), Community Based Organizations (CBOs), community members, community groups and any other stakeholder presents in the field; -       depending on the topic, involve protection monitors, case workers and social workers, or external specialised actors, in facilitating the sessions; -       prepare and organise all logistic aspects for the conduct of the awareness sessions; -       prepare a weekly and monthly work plan for awareness session, including target groups and topics; -       ensure weekly and monthly reports on the conducted awareness sessions.   Specific Duties and responsibilities:   -   Deliver daily awareness sessions on CP, GBV and protection related issues to adolescent and adults in the villages of intervention collaborating with municipalities, Social Development Centers (SDCs), Community Based Organizations (CBOs), community members, community groups and any other stakeholder presents in the field,; -     provide information to adolescent and parents/caregivers on services available in the field and create the link between them and International Non-Governmental Organization (INGOs), NGOs, Community Based Organizations (CBOs), Social Development Centers (SDCs) and any other stakeholders present in the area and ensure that the provided supporting material is update with correct information; -     involve and follow-up CBOs staff, SDCs staff, community members and community groups in organizing and conducting cascade awareness sessions on CP, GBV and protection related issues; -   coach and supervise peers adults and adolescents in organizing and conducting awareness     sessions on CP, GBV and protection related issues; -    work in close collaboration and under the guidance of a community mobilizer trainer; -   support the Field Activities Officers (FAO) in all activities related to the establishment of family support networks through strengthening of SDCs role; -    liaise with CBOs staff, SDCs staff and colleagues in the field for information sharing and support; -    ensure that the provided material is properly used and kept.   Case Management: -       identify and refer vulnerable cases on the base of the referral pathways adopted by INTERSOS; -       follow-up CBOs staff, SDCs staff, community members and community groups in the identification and referral of vulnerable cases; -       in case of i) children dropped out of school, ii) unvaccinated children, iii) married children, iv) siblings of children involved in child labour, v) children in need of health services, vi) children  refer through the FAO to the appointed organizations providing education services, shelter, food and non-food assistance.   Reporting: -       collect information on number of adolescent and adults participating in the activities and  internally and externally referred; -       prepare weekly and monthly plan of the activities to be validated by the FAO; -       fill in daily, weekly and monthly monitoring tools to be validated by the FAO.     Administration: -    prepare liquidity plans in collaboration with the FAO and be responsible of it.     Logistic: - coordinate, through the FAO, with the INTERSOS Logistic Department for refreshment and material delivery.     Meeting: -   be available to take part in meetings in Tyre INTERSOS Office or in any other location required by the general management.   Qualifications: -       BA in social sciences/ social work or equivalent relevant working experience; -       1 to 2 years work experience in implementing mobilization activities; -       knowledge of CP, GBV and protection related issues; -       minimum of one year of relevant NGO/INGO experience; -       experience in dealing with volunteers and local authorities; -       ability to work independently while being member of a team and working under pressure; -       ability and willingness to travel to project areas and spend extended periods with communities and volunteers -       experience in managing team and in conducting basic administrative tasks; -       good Knowledge of English and experience in reporting;  -       strong organizational skills; -       strong interpersonal skill and communication skills; -       Good knowledge word and excel; -    Driving license holder.   Any change to the proposed activities should be discussed with the INTERSOS officers in Tyre.   A high degree of flexibility on the part of all staff is expected in order to respond to the ever-evolving situation. This job description may change based on the situation in the field. He/she can be asked required to perform other related duties as identified by his supervisor.   He/she knows INTERSOS Chart of Values and Code of Ethics.
