Senior Case Worker Child Protection

Makhzoumi Foundation Context:   Makhzoumi Foundation is a private Lebanese non-profit organization, established in 1997. Our ultimate mission is to empower Lebanese citizens - through improving their socioeconomic status, healthcare provisions, and environmental awareness, and by encouraging their quest for education - thereby enabling them to independently develop and progress their local communities, and to subsequently enhance the country’s civil society on a national scale.   For the last four years, in response to the on-going refugee crisis in Lebanon, the Makhzoumi Foundation Relief and Humanitarian Services Unit (MFRHSU)has been working from our Beirut office to deliver emergency and recovery projects in Hygiene, Shelter, Protection, Health and Livelihood Recovery sectors. We are currently recruiting for a Senior Case Worker for our Child Protection Case Management services to both Palestine Refugee and vulnerable Lebanese children who are at risk and families in need living in the Beirut/Mount Lebanon area. In addition the team also delivers awareness sessions, coordinates with volunteers from the community and supports committees from the local communities to promote Child Protection issues.     SCOPE OF WORK:  MFRHSU is seeking a Senior Child Protection Case Worker to conduct all steps of the case management process for an assigned number of individual children vulnerable to abuse, exploitation, neglect and violence, and their families. The Senior Case Worker will, in collaboration with the Team Leader, have a key role in the delivery of awareness sessions to children and caregivers within the community, the identification of and engagement with Community Outreach Volunteers, and supporting the establishment of committees from the local communities to promote Child Protection issues.     The sensitive nature of the work of this project therefore requires a particular skill set and aptitude in order to engage the community positively and effectively with a non-judgemental and anti-discriminatory approach.   Job Overview: General duties and responsibilities: To ensure cases harmed or at risk of being harmed are identified and receive individual case management support by conducting documentation, assessments, action plans, direct service provision, referrals and follow ups for an assigned case load To provide support to vulnerable children and families with protection concerns in the process of psychosocial support and case management. To directly with other caseworkers and service providers on management of caseload and referral Act at all times according to guiding principles of Child Protection case management including:   Do no harm Acting according to the best interests of the child/survivor A Survivor centred approach Ensuring confidentiality Prioritization according to safety concerns Anti-discriminatory practice Ensuring accountability Respecting professional boundaries and avoiding conflicts of interest Case Management: Participate in and support the identification of individual cases identified by the team or referred by other agencies. Conduct psychosocial assessment of highly vulnerable cases, including environmental, emotional, behavioural, and social factors as well as resources and strengths that impact the individual well-being. Plan with the Team Leader to conduct home visits to assess the living conditions of the cases. Ensure the preparation of accurate case plans for high-risk cases identified with clear outcomes and time-frames. In collaboration with the Supervisor, advocate with different institutions and service providers in the area of intervention to help beneficiaries to access needed resources and services, and ensure good coordination for prompt referral, follow up and information sharing. Manage, fill, archive specific forms for cases profiling, referral and weekly reporting ensuring confidentiality, accuracy and timeliness. Monitor and follow up the outcome of the assistance provided. Be available to provide basic emotional support for urgent cases. Participate in management of the hotline. Support the Team Leader in weekly casework allocation and planning meetings. Ensure that data protection protocols are respected. Be available to participate in meetings and training in and outside the centre including case management meetings, case conference meetings or any other meetings when required. Communicate regularly with the Team Leader for updates on achievements and challenges Psychosocial activities: Participate and collaborate in recreational, psychosocial, awareness activities conducted in or outside of the centre. Support the organization of specific events or activities inside or outside of the centre.   Monitoring and Reporting: Provide daily and weekly updates to the Team Leader on cases assessed and supported. Support the Team Leader in the production of daily weekly reports. Contribute to the update of the Makhzoumi Foundation case management system.   Other:   Promptly report concerns or incidents to MF management and liaise with community leaders and other external parties as required to maintain/enhance the security environment for MF programs Engage with the coaching and training support provided to MF. In collaboration with the Team Leader, provide support and mentoring to less experienced case workers Ensure activities run in a timely manner to ensure the successful implementation of programs Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop MF programs Key Working Relationships:   Position Reports to:  Team Leader Indirect Reporting: Protection Coordinator/Unit Manager Other Internal and/or external contacts: Internal: other members of the team and other MF programs in the field   External: local partner Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Good computer skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel…) Well-developed organizational and planning skills Self-motivation and strong team spirit Native Arabic speaker and fluent in English Excellent reporting skills Dynamic personality and ability to work under pressure Familiar with the Practical Guidance for Case Management document.
