General Description
International Relief and Development (IRD) is an international charitable, non-for-profit, non-governmental organization that collaborates with local and international partners to design and implement humanitarian relief and development aid programs. IRD’s mission is to reduce the suffering of the world’s most vulnerable groups and provide tools and resources needed to increase their self-sufficiency. IRD was founded in 1998 and has grown over the past decade into an organization that is operating in many countries across the world.
IRD has been present in Lebanon since 2006, and the first activities included assistance to poor rural households in southern Lebanon adversely affected by the July War. Currently, IRD implements projects in Lebanon within the context of Syrian crisis supporting civil society organizations, Syrian and Iraqi refugees, and Lebanese host communities.
Specific Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Program Manager and in coordination with the Procurement Specialist, the Driver is responsible for an overall support to the program; the specific duties include:
Drive IRD Staff and international visitors to field sites as requested
Carry out daily inspections of vehicles according to IRD standards to ensure vehicles contain proper tools, water, spare tire etc.
Inform the Procurement Specialist of any major repairs to be carried out
Apply standard regulations and procedures in case of accident; a written report on any accident is to be submitted to the office administration immediately
Ensure that vehicle log sheets are properly recorded and maintained daily for each vehicle for input into vehicle management system, in coordination with the Procurement Specialist
Ensure that all IRD operational procedures and vehicle policies are met at all times
Ensure safety of all passengers in reference to IRD’s Vehicle Safety regulations
In coordination with the Procurement Specialist, ensure that the vehicle is clean and in good running condition
Provide support to all logistics needs of the program and IRD Beirut Office
Understand and abide by all traffic laws and regulations at all times
Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager
