Who are we
The Lebanon Humanitarian INGO Forum (LHIF) is an independent forum of international NGOs who are working to address the needs of vulnerable individuals, families and communities throughout Lebanon. LHIF provides a platform for members to advocate for and address key issues of common interest, more effectively engage in response coordination and leadership mechanisms, and help ensure humanitarian space is maintained, with the aim of achieving a protective environment that better identifies and responds to the full spectrum of needs and the rights of the most vulnerable persons affected by the crisis in Lebanon.LHIF was founded in October 2012, established a full-time Secretariat in October 2013, and currently has 32 members. About the job
The LHIF National Officer provides core information management, communications, and administrative support to LHIF, serving as the office manager of the LHIF Secretariat.The LHIF Officer works to improve information sharing to and among LHIF members, develops and supports internal LHIF operational systems, monitors developments in local media on LHIF priority issues,and facilitates accurate public information about LHIF’s mission and activities.
Duties
• Serve as office manager of the LHIF Secretariat, ensuring smooth running of regular office functions, including procurement/logistics, budget administration, scheduling, reporting, etc.
• Contribute to the realization of LHIF’s internal and external communications strategies, and work to develop systems and tools to improve communication to and among LHIF members
• Facilitate information sharing and exchange by ensuring that relevant reports, announcements, updates, etc. are consistently circulated to all LHIF members and partners as relevant
• Manage meeting organization and logistics for regular and ad hoc LHIF coordination meetings, workshops and other events and Plan and organize trainings for LHIF members (canvassing members for priority training topics, working with the Country Coordinator to identify training facilitators, working training facilitators to coordinate training plans, and managing all training logistics)
• Track and highlight information from local Arabic and English media sources relevant to the humanitarian response in Lebanon, and priority LHIF issues in particular
• Develop and maintain a mapping of national NGO networks and coordination structures in Lebanon, as well as key national NGOs within the humanitarian response
• Manage the LHIF website and maintain up-to-date public information tools (e.g., website, flyer) and Collect and analyze data from members to support LHIF communications and advocacy as requested
• Maintain an up-to-date mapping of member activities (sectors, geographic areas, donors, etc.) and an up-to-date Contact List of all LHIF member representatives, alternates, and focal points
• Serve as LHIF liaison to the Information Management Working Group, attending and reporting back on meetings; attend and report back on other relevant sector-working group meetings as assigned
• Record and disseminate detailed notesof LHIF Plenary meetings, and other meetings as requested
About you
To be successful in this role you must have University degree in communications, information management, international relations or a related field, or a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience and 3-5 years of experience in humanitarian and/or development work, preferably with office management, communications or information management responsibilities (I/NGO experience a plus)
Understanding of and commitment to the humanitarian principles of neutrality, impartiality, independence, and humanity, and to principles of partnership is very essential.
We offer
An interesting job in one of the world’s best NGOs. DRC will offer the successful applicant a contract until 31st of December 2016, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from April 2016 and be willing and able to work in Beirut.
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National staff. This position will be placed at level C+, equivalent to 1905 USD per month.
