Who we are
Solidarites International is an international humanitarian organization which provides aid and assistance to victims of war or natural disaster. For over 30 years the association has focused on meeting three vital needs - water, food and shelter - by carrying out emergency programmes followed by longer-term reconstruction projects. Whilst fully respecting the assisted populations’ customs and culture, SolidaritesInternational’s programmes are implemented through the joint expertise of around 180 expatriates and 1500 local managerial staff and employees. Solidarites International is currently present in Africa (Central African Republic, South Sudan, Kenya, Somalia, Mali, Niger, Mauritania, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ivory Coast), in Asia (Afghanistan, Thailand, Bangladesh, Myanmar and Pakistan), in the Middle East (Syria and Lebanon) and in Haiti.
TASK
Under the authority of the WASH & Shelter Program Manager, the Construction Supervisor will:
Supervise the construction activity for both the WASH and Shelter components of the program
Ensure the safety of workers / beneficiaries;
Report the complete construction activity to the WASH & Shelter Program Manager;
Collect data on the completed work for final reports;
The construction supervisor will be required to:
Shelter Activities:
Monitor the distribution of the Shelter Kits to the beneficiary families identified by the Outreach Team
Supervise / monitor the installation of the kits by the beneficiary families and provide them with guidance on construction principles
Identify the needs for rehabilitation, specify the work to be performed, partake in the Contractor selection process and supervise the rehabilitation work to ensure that Solidarités International standards are respected and that the construction works is completed on time
WASH Activities:
Take part in thedistribution and/or installation of WASH items, namely water tanks or others;
Identify the needs for latrines, toilets, bathrooms or water supply system rehabilitation or construction, specify the work to be performed, partake in the Contractor selection process and supervise the work to ensure that Solidarités International standards are respected and that the construction works is completed on time
Reporting
Report your activities to the WASH & Shelter Program Manager;
Report the construction progress to your management and update the relevant formats and databases for the construction activities;
Report any type of problem encountered on the field;
The construction supervisor may be asked to drive SOL cars and respecting the driving policies set by the logistic department and attached to this document.
