Social Workers (3 Positions)

Secours Islamique France (SIF) is a Non-Governmental Organization of international solidarity based in France. Founded in 1991, SIF is an apolitical neutral organization whose objective is to provide immediate and long-term support to vulnerable population affected by natural disasters, armed conflicts and other types of crisis. SIF has been present in Lebanon since 2012, implementing projects through National partner aiming at distributing assistance to the Syrian refugee populations affected by the conflict in Lebanon. This program allowed SIF contributing to the improvement of the well-being of the children and their families In response to the current crisis in Syria, and the growing numbers of refugees coming to Lebanon, SIF is expending its humanitarian response and will scale-up its emergency support to Syrian refugees and affected population. In view of SIF operation scale up SIF is currently recruiting a Social Worker (3 positions), to begin immediately. The Social Worker will be based in Mount Lebanon, but will support SIF’s main office in Beirut. Furthermore, the Social Worker will be in contact with other SIF members to harmonize and share tools as well as lessons learnt. The Social Worker is part of the Syrian Refugee Support Program team of SIF-Lebanon and will be under the line management of the Project Manager. MISSION CONTEXT The SIF project aims at strengthening the identification of vulnerabilities, their assessment and adequate referrals to existing services. The Psychologist jointly with the Social Workers, ensure the identification of most vulnerable beneficiaries in need of psychosocial support. The identification can be in the child friendly space for recreational activities, during the household visits as well as during the training or other SIF activities. Strong coordination with other actors in the area of intervention is the pillar of this program and the referral mechanism will guarantee the provision of adequate services from others partners. The action aims at strengthening awareness and advocacy efforts towards increased access of most the vulnerable (mainly children and women alone) within humanitarian actors’ coverage in the areas of intervention. Furthermore, as part of a longer term strategy aiming at supporting and reinforcing resilience of local stakeholders, the action includes a strong capacity building & strengthening component targeting SDC and local stakeholders on protection, child protection, referral pathway and mechanism, conflict resolution etc. MAIN RESPONSABILITIES  Provide social support to Syrian children refugees and their families at their homes and at the Child friendly spaces level; Conduct community outreach and home visits; Work directly with the Program Manager and Field team, to develop intervention plans and follow up in the CFS and at the homes; Identify new children, women or families within the community to be assessed and included in the SIF program. Collect information about visited vulnerable families through interviews, observation, and assessment carried out via outreach home visits; Collect data and referrals from the field level (e.g. Municipalities, L/INGOs, Focal Points, UNHCR) The Social Workers will be an essential source of providing accurate referrals when need be (i.e., the Social Worker will refer patient to hospitals and centers; in addition to other local NGOs and INGOs and will receive referral from others stakeholders); Complete intake assessments, evaluations, reviews, and other documentation as necessary; Awareness raising on the services available in Mount Lebanon (provided by SIF and from others NGO); Attend weekly or biweekly meetings in Beirut or in the field with the PM and Program Coordinator REPRESENTATION Represent SIF vis-à-vis local authorities, for all issues linked to the program in coordination with the PM and Program Coordinator Participate actively to program coordination and to relevant meetings on the topic; TEAM MANAGEMENT Ensure feed back towards your team about issues potentially raised by them and in the field; Ensure a good communication – coordination – information level of each member of your team through regular coordination meetings (or other if needed); You ensure conflict resolution (personal and professional) within your team and inform the Head of Mission; REPORTING Reports directly to SIF’s Beirut Office, the Project Manager. S/he will submit the following reports at the end of each week: Centralize all information gathered in the field and consolidate a daily report (into the proper reporting format) to be delivered to the Project Manager; The Narrative Report which includes: the number of beneficiaries, actions taken, number of house-visits conducted, awareness raising activities, number of people attending the session with breakdown per age group and gender; Weekly update – numbers of beneficiaries and households visited segregated by age, gender,  needs and vulnerability (i.e. living in very poor conditions and other); Provide regular reporting on your activities to the Head of Mission and Programme Coordinator upon his/her solicitation ETHIC AND PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE •           Always respect of beneficiaries’ confidentiality •           Respect and promote SIF’s Policies and report to your line manager any non-respect of SIF’s policies amongst the teams or partners. •           Address needs and requests in a professional way. •           Report any incident or act that causes any harm to beneficiary or to others. •           Always interact with children with the presence of their parents or caregivers •           Always respect a refusal of treatment. PERSON QUALIFICATIONS Qualifications, experience and competences Relevant university degree Minimum of 6 months experience in Social Work Basic understanding of humanitarian principles and humanitarian processes. Experience within another INGO desired, but not mandatory Excellent command of English and Arabic (speaking and writing), French an asset Confident and proficient in the use of MS Office, especially Excel and Word Experience of a flexible approach to managing and prioritizing a high workload and multiple tasks in environment with tight deadlines Experience of proactively identifying and addressing issues, proven problem solving and organizational skills.
