Social Worker

AND has been working with other partners on livelihoods and protection programs (identification, referral and case management in the Jerd area, and currently in Halba and the coastal area). Throughout this period AND team were able to conclude that Syrian refugee  families are increasingly forced to rely on several  coping strategies, especially negative  such as sending children to work, early marriage for adolescent girls and survival sex for adult women, in order to meet their needs. In addition, and due to the availability of a cheap labor, Lebanese vulnerable families have been forced to adopt some of these coping strategies as well.  Akkar, on the borders with Syria, has been hosting a growing number of Syrian refugees. The area itself is one of the poorest in the country and has experienced a rapid deterioration of the economic situation of its inhabitants over the past two years. As the crisis in Syria continues the situation of Syrian refugees in Lebanon as well as Lebanese citizens in Akkar worsens. It almost feels like that violence against women and kids is accepted in the two communities, as killing, shooting and hitting is more talked about, and practiced more than ever before. TASKS AND RESPONSABILITIES : Main objective:         Under the supervision of the project manager, the social worker is expected to conduct awarness sessions with students, teachers, parents and volunteers in 5 schools. Main activities:   SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED: Bachelor degree in social work or relevant sector Minimum 2 years of previous job experience relevant to the function Have a good communication skills patient with good ethics Plan and lead community based GBV activities, including mobilizing, capacity building, and programme planning development in the field Monitor the implementation process to ensure the achievement of project deliverables in terms of cost, time and quality. Work closely with the partners for the identification and mobilization of key actors, involved in the building of community-based networks. Collaborate with other team members to ensure coherent plan of actions, division of labor, etc Perform functions in the most efficient manner, while remaining courteous and respecting principles of confidentiality;   Behaviour: To behave with self-restraint at all times and respect the dignity of the beneficiaries. To believe in concepts of equity, human rights, neutrality and impartiality. Demonstrate willingness to improve own knowledge and skills by participating in any capacity building activities. Respect each team member’s position, work and specialty. Adapt to special situations or demands from supervisor  Other duties/responsibilities: Report any security related issues to the security focal point.  Conduct field trips to ensure proper impplementation of AND programs/activities
