It Technician

The IT Technician in EMS headquarters identifies and evaluates the IT needs, ensures that all IT equipment and networks are well maintained and operational and provides IT support to staff in the HQ and volunteers in the stations. The IT Technician manages and controls the computer systems and IT infrastructures within LRC EMS, oversees their installation, ensures backup systems operate effectively, purchases hardware and software, and contributes to the development of policy and procedures related to IT. This will occasionally require working with volunteers during weekends and responding to urgent requests outside of regular working hours.  key responsibilities Manage, plan and organize information technology infrastructures and computer systems  (Computers, network, Cisco Call Manager – Microsoft CRM – Microsoft SharePoint – IT ticketing system…) within the LRC EMS  (HQ, Dispatch, Stations) Coordinate with IT Manager and IT Advisor to develop and implement IT strategies, policies and procedures and assess new trends Coordinate with IT service providers, submit support tickets, follow up on response times and make sure SLAs are followed Identify and diagnose problems that require IT interventions and provide solutions accordingly Log and record on all external and internal support tickets on a monthly basis Provide network access, network accounts and passwords to all team members as required Provide rapid support to staff and volunteers for all IT related issues Assess IT needs and place requisition orders to purchase, maintain or replace IT equipment Monitor and document as needed the EMS IT budget, provide recommendations as required Maintain current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software and resources Schedule upgrades and security backups of hardware and software systems Ensure IT facilities are accessible and equipped with current hardware and software Ensure security backups of IT systems are implemented and operate effectively Participate in all training courses with an IT component Keep up to date with latest technologies and information related to IT Develop a disaster recover plan that minimizes down time and implement it when necessary Be available to rapidly respond to crisis situations involving hardware or software problems
