Public Health Assistant (Primary Health Care And Ncd Coordination)

  Under the overall guidance of the Chief of Mission (COM), and direct supervision of the Health Programme Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible and accountable for assisting in the implementation of IOM’s health assistance activities, particularly with regard to a joint research project on non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in crisis contexts. The incumbent is expected to carry out his/ her duties in accordance with the strictest ethical standards, building and maintaining partnerships with Government, international organizations and non-governmental agencies, and with due respect for gender and socio-cultural sensitivities.   In particular, he /she will:       Assist in implementation and administration of health related activities, particularly within, but not limited to, the framework of the project “NCD guidelines and mHealth records for refugees in Lebanon”. Assist in organizing and participate in different planning meetings with stakeholders of the NCD project, including health partner agencies, primary health care centers (PHCs), and external trainers. Visit PHCs on a regular basis to assist in monitoring proper implementation of project related activities; keep contact with PHC managers and other relevant PHC staff regularly. Assist in coordinating data collection activities and verifying that all requested tasks are being fulfilled appropriately by other data collectors; assist in training data collectors on the principles of conducting interviews, using the Magpi software application, and reporting any challenges and concerns; keep track of the data collectors’ working hours, ensure attendance is written on the time sheets, and submit them to the IOM HR department on a monthly basis. Assist in verifying that deadlines for project activities are being met within the planned budget and resource limits, and report any challenges to supervisors. . Assist in drafting reports, including reports to donors on the progress of various project activities on a regular basis, as well as additional information materials, in close coordination with supervisors. Reporting includes highlighting inconsistencies/errors in data collection and other possible challenges. Coordinate administrative tasks for the NCD project including but not limited to purchase and distribution of materials, preparation of data collection forms, participant enrolment activities, and arranging trainings and meetings, and maintain a database of all project activities. Participate in assessments/surveys of the beneficiaries’ health needs and needs of the supported PHCs. Perform such other duties as may be assigned

High school diploma or equivalent. Undergraduate degree in a health related area (preferably epidemiology, health care management, medical sciences or medical informatics) would be an advantage;
Experience and qualifications:
• At least 4 years of relevant work experience, including experience in research and data collection;
• Experience in the public health sector in Lebanon; knowledge of project development, implementation and monitoring is an advantage
• Demonstrated understanding of the humanitarian system through work experience and/or studies.
• Willingness to undertake frequent travel to field locations across Lebanon.
• Proficiency in Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer.
