The incumbent may be re-assigned to different activities depending on the evolving needs of the Organization.   Organizational Setting Through its Country Offices, or FAO Representations, FAO assists governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to address hunger and malnutrition, and provides technical support for the sustainable development of their agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors. The activities of the FAO Country Offices include design and implementation of country-tailored field programmes, liaison with local donor representatives, and active public awareness-raising and outreach activities related to FAO initiatives such as the World Food Day.   The post is located in the FAO Representation in Lebanon   Reporting Lines The National Professional Officer reports to the FAO Representative (FAOR) and to the Assistant FAOR for Programmes.   Technical Focus Project management and implementation, programme development, coordination and operational assistance based on the knowledge of the local conditions, culture, language and institutions of the country of assignment.   Key Results Effective and efficient coordination and provision of the technical and operational support of projects implemented by the FAO Representation and support to its overall programme.   Key Functions Ensures the effective day-to-day  management of the projects under the NPO’s responsibility Contributes to the preparation, implementation and monitoring of the projects by providing technical/ operational support; Participates in the preparation of project work plans, monitor progress of project implementation and, where, necessary, identifies corrective measures to overcome operational constraints; Participates in the development of project implementation reports and any other periodic or ad hoc reports in timely manner; Contributes to farmer/livestock-field-schools (FFS) to enable targeted farmers/livestock keepers to adapt or adopt existing or new technologies and practices in crop/livestock management including nutrition and disease management; Assists in the selection of candidates for the role of Facilitators in Farmers Field Schools programmes; Organizes and conducts Training of Facilitators; Drafts technical specifications for inputs to be provided under the project and assists in development of procurement and distribution plans; Assists in the identification of beneficiaries as well as distribution of procured inputs; Contributes to drafting of the project concept notes, proposals and relevant documents; Performs other duties as required.                   CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING   Minimum Requirements National of the country of assignment University degree in agriculture science, forestry, or any other field related to the work of the Organization. Three years of relevant experience in programme/project implementation and management including farmer-led community extension system (Farmers’ Field Schools) and  training of facilitators; or advanced university degree in agriculture science,  forestry, or any other field related to the work of the Organization and one year of relevant experience in project implementation and management including farmer-led community extension system (Farmers’ Field Schools) and  training of facilitators Working knowledge(level C) of English and Arabic     Competencies Results Focus Teamwork Communication Building Effective Relationships Knowledge Sharing and Continuous Improvement   Technical/Functional Skills Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions is desirable. Extent and relevance of experience in project implementation and management including farmer-led community extension system (Farmers’ Field Schools) and training of facilitators. Understanding of the purpose and functions of technical programmes, operational guidelines and programme/project management procedures, preferably those adopted by the United Nations or FAO Extent and relevance of experience in implementation of donor-funded field projects and reporting requirements   Please note that all candidates should adhere to FAO Values of Commitment to FAO, Respect for All and Integrity and Transparency.     ADDITIONAL INFORMATION All candidates should possess computer/word processing skills.
