  Job description   All INTERSOS employees and consultants are expected to perform their roles and responsibilities according to INTERSOS chart of values and code of ethics. The job description is mandatory for all position within INTERSOS and shall be signed by employee within the first week of employment.     Job Title        : Lawyer Reports to           : CSMC Coordinator / Protection Manager (PROM) and/or Project Manager (PM) Duty Station       : Position Type     : Consultancy   Job Purpose: The Legal consultant/Lawyer is responsible for providing legal information, counseling, assistance and representation to vulnerable persons in accordance with INTERSOS’ mandate, priorities and donor agreements.   Generic Duties: Conduct basic interviews with beneficiaries in order to assess legal and urgent protection needs of the IC. When applicable provide legal assistance to people who are in need of urgent and legal protection; services include legal advice, counseling on any legal issues (e.g. birth registration, civil documentation) and legal representation in court for CP and GBV cases Accompanying refugee families to the Mukhtars or to the GSO and court palaces to facilitate the legal procedures and resolve administrative obstacles Undertake follow-up visits to clients in very specific cases in coordination with Senior case workers Attend meetings and workshop/training as requested by the CSMC Coordinator, Project Manager and Protection Manager. Inform the CSMC Coordinator, Project Manager and Protection Manager of the individual progressive legal cases conditions on a weekly basis. Plan, develop and conduct legal awareness sessions for the refugee community and host community. Write report of the awareness sessions in collaboration with a Legal Assistant Be involved in the organization of awareness sessions or any other topic to be decided according to the need. Participate in the monthly Legal Working Group in coordination with the CSMC Coordinator, will share information and protection trends on legal challenges faced by refugees Ensure steer and capacity building for the legal assistant ensuring the assistant can work independently in conducting interviews, providing basic counseling and support mediations. Respect deadline for the delivering of weekly and monthly reports and any kind of urgent reporting to the Protection Manager and CSMC Coordinator. Any other task not listed here but necessary to the project and activities. Available to work extra hours and available at the weekend for emergency cases.     Specific Duties: (Can be adapted to the particularities of the job location and the requirement of the project. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired).       Project component: INTERSOS is providing case management services to Women at Risk, survivors of SGBV, and children affected by Child Protection concerns. As part of the case management support we offer, beneficiaries are provided with legal assistance where relevant. This assistance can include legal counseling and advice, support in dealing with legal procedures, legal representation in court, and mediation between the two parties or parties indirectly involved where needed. The lawyer will also be requested to provide counseling support and advice to the INTERSOS team in dealing with particular legal challenges related to Child Protection and support to survivors of SGBV in Lebanon.   Main legal issues to be covered by the legal consultant: -          Family Law (including Family Violence) -          Child Protection Legal Framework (including dispute of custody)     Education: University degree in law. Advanced university degree, preferably with the specialization in international human rights law and/or international refugees’ law;   Competencies:  (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)   Professional Competencies: -      Relevant professional experience, registered at Lebanese bar association and not less than three (3) years (practicing civil law and family law); -      Prior experience in working with or coordinating with other international humanitarian organizations or governmental authorities; -      Prior experience with UNHCR’s persons of concern; -      Familiarity with international protection and human rights legal standards; -      Familiarity and experience with Family Law -      Experience working with GBV survivors is an asset -      Knowledge on how to communicate with children and on advocating for special measures to be taken by judiciary authorities when survivors are children -      Excellent analysis and reporting; -      Computer/IT literacy (OS Windows/Linux, MS Office, Internet etc.); -      Driving License   Behavioural competencies: -                      Excellent communication and organization; -                      Excellent knowledge and understanding of local communities and customary rules; -                      Punctuality and respect for applicable rules and procedures; -                      Strongly objective and impartial reasoning; -                      Ethical and transparent decision-making; -                      Independence, i.e. conducting tasks with minimal supervision, and stress resilience; -                      Self-motivation, goal/result-orientation and team work;   Languages: -                      Excellent command of (written and spoken) Arabic and English;
