The position
Position Title : Education Program Assistant
Reports to : Education Program Manager
Location : Beirut Office
Work hours : From 8:30AM till 4:00PM
Period : 1 year renewable after evaluation with 3 months’ probation period.
Position Summary:
In response to the ongoing Syria crisis and based on a recent needs assessment, ANERA is leading a UNICEF funded non-formal education program for “Quick Impact Skills Development for Youth Affected by the Syria Crisis 2”. The Education Program Assistant will be based in Beirut office and will support field staff and project partners in their respective area in ensuring the achievement of desired learning outcomes by the students. He/she will follow up on the day-to-day activities of the project and support data collection efforts at the field implementation level based on tools and methods set by ANERA Education program manager.
Responsibilities
The Education Officer will be responsible for:
Program Implementation Support
Finalize operational work plans; understand clear targets and activity plans per center and per location.
Monitor activities, under the supervision of the Education Program Manager and provide technical support as needed.
Liaise regularly with field coordinators, partners, communities, and EPM to guarantee the smooth operation of the program.
Work directly in the field with children, families, teachers and other stakeholders of the project location to provide information.
Support outreach activities, and assist in the organization and implementation of trainings and workshops.
Facilitate, collect and report information regarding the overall situation of the Syrian refugee children and their families in the community, with specific attention to the project targeted children.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
Participate in Education-specific monitoring and evaluating project activities in NFE.
Produce timely reports for internal use on the ongoing activities of the project and schools.
Ensure that data is collected on a weekly and monthly basis and according to the provided guidelines.
Regularly visit project sites to ensure that implementing partners and teachers are appropriately supported.
Child Protection
Ensure a strict adherence to the principles of Child Protection at all times, including respect for confidentiality and a child-centered approach and to act in the best interests of the child.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Development, or another Social Science.
At least two years experience in Education, preferably in an NGO environment or educational setting.
Skills
Ability to analyze information, evaluate options, and to plan strategically.
Strength in interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
Works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational goals
Demonstrates initiative, drive and willingness to learn
