Project Summary:  MSI is a key partner in the Quality Instruction Towards Access and Basic education Improvement (QITABI) Project, led by World Learning. QITABI will run from September 2014 through September 2018 and combines a crisis response and development approach to expand equitable access to education and improve learning outcomes for children. MSI’s role is in four areas: 1) collecting and analyzing data on children’s reading levels by implementing early grade reading assessments; 2) conducting surveys on teacher’s knowledge of reading instruction; 3) support the design and implementation of an early warning system for children at risk of developing difficulties in reading; and 4) holding policy workshops based on the findings of the reading assessments and the reading instruction surveys. ** Please note that this is a local position. Only local citizens are eligible to apply ** Position Summary: MSI will contract an SPSS trainer to prepare and conduct a 3-day training on the use of the SPSS software package to conduct quantitative analyses applied to the field of education. Prior to the training, the contractor will work with the MSI team to finalize the training content. The training will include hands-on applications running descriptive and inferential statistical tests using SPSS software package. The training will take place in Beirut on 14, 15, 16 January 2016. The SPSS trainer will be contracted for approximately 6 days, including 3 days for preparation and wrap-up and 3 days for the training. Responsibilities: Prepare training content and materials in consultation with the MSI project’s team Conduct a 3-day hands-on training on running descriptive and inferential statistical tests using SPSS software package Qualifications: Master’s or PhD degree in statistics or relevant discipline required Advanced knowledge of the SPSS software package required Advanced knowledge of descriptive and inferential statistics as applied to the fields of education and the social sciences required Extensive experience providing training on quantitative analysis using SPSS required Reading and speaking fluency in Arabic and in English required; knowledge of French preferred Experience working with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education   Only candidates who have been selected for an interview will be contacted.
