Staff Counselor

We are looking for a highly qualified staff counselor who are able to lead and provide clinical supervision for all protection staff within DRC Lebanon. DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan.DRC has been operating in Lebanon since 2004, working with Palestinian and Iraqi refugees, as well as Lebanese communities affected by the war in 2006.  DRC is committed to basic humanitarian principles; including impartiality and neutrality, and offers the highest standards of accountability to the people it serves.For further information about DRC, please refer to our website: www.drc.dk About the jobThe purpose of this consultancy is to provide clinical supervision, which is a part of ethical requirements for all professional counsellors but also a way of self-care for protection staff (incl. caseworker and PSS and protection assistants who deal with individuals who have undergone traumatic experiences. This is designed to help them mitigate extreme levels of stress and burn-out by engaging them in a therapeutic process that enables them discuss and explore their worries, fears and anxieties in a positive manner. In particular, the services are required to assist DRC protection staff effectively and positively deal with the demands placed on them and respond to their own wellbeing and that of their clients. This will also increase productivity at work hence maintaining professionalism and the quality of services offered to beneficiaries. Duties and deliverables• Conduct group therapy sessions with protection staff in their field offices in order to empower them to deal with stress and burn-out inherent in their daily work and explore ways they can enhance their personal care and development;• To conduct individual counseling sessions with staff expressing willingness to do so in order to support them to deal with emotions linked challenging cases and explore alternate ways to respond.• To give feedback to the staff supervisors and national coordinators accordingly on issues that may require her intervention or guidance.• To produce monthly progress reports to the protection coordinator to highlight needs and gaps in liaison with national interagency guidelines of the MHPSS working group. About youTo be successful in this role you must have MSc in Counseling Psychology or Clinical Psychology; Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination and safety of client at all times; Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility; Comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well; 3-5 years experience including in the provision of clinical supervision and debriefing; Experience working in GBV and child protection programmes and with caseworkers; Ideally you will also have previous experience in working with Syrian refugees in Lebanon and a strong understanding of Syrian refugees’ struggle and protection concerns. You must be available to start work from January 15th, 2016, and be willing and able to work in Beirut, with frequent travels to the field.Consultancy fees and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for consultants.
