Registered Ot Nurse ( Operation Room)- Tripoli

We are based on a dedicated floor of a Lebanese hospital in Tripoli and have vacancies for registered nurses eager to join our surgical and rehabilitation teams We provide our patients pre and post- operative care, physical and psycho social support  , performing mainly orthopedic reconstruction operations   We value the work of a multidisciplinary international and national team and as such it will be necessary to speak and write English as well as be an Arabic speaker  If you enjoy the challenge of learning and following the ICRC protocols and standards for treatment of weapon wounded patients Are patient focused in your nursing practice, enjoy working in a complex environment Are ready to participate in training and development as an active member of a multi disciplinary team You are invited to apply for the OT Nurse position  You will need : Strong technical knowledge and skills in basic nursing care and a nursing focus such as orthopaedics ,rehabilitation of physically challenged patients, surgical care, intensive care    If you are selected to join our team , an orientation and ongoing peer support to your nursing practice is  assured  Minimum required knowledge & experience:  ·              University degree or professional diploma ·              3 - 5 years work experience in a similar field ·              Good knowledge of written and spoken English  Standard function description: ·              Performs nursing activities mainly independently ·              Supervises nurse helpers  SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES ·       Performs antiseptic surgical scrub, puts on the gown and gloves according to established protocols ·       provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing surgery ·       focuses on wellbeing of patients during the surgery ·       Positions  patient properly for the procedure ·       Checks patient's ID bracelet and verifies with patient ·       Checks patient's medical record to ensure: Operative consent is signed, preoperative medication is given, laboratory reports   available, allergies documented, prostheses removed, vital signs taken, and examination reports in the file (ECG, chest Rx .. ..) ·       Checks with the patient the surgical operation to be performed ·       Explains to the patient the nursing activities being performed ·       Transports the patient to the OT. ·       Transfers the patient to the operating table and ensures the pressure on the different regions is minimized ·       Applies restraints to immobilize patient on the operating table ·       Prepares sets, equipment, drugs and solutions required before and during the procedure ·       Checks if the equipment is working properly. ·       Practices the surgical scrub hand washing in line with approved procedure ·       Wears properly the apron and the paws ·       Arranges the surgery equipment and put them in order on the specific table ·       Ensures the cleanliness of the equipment while giving them to the surgeon ·       Shares relevant patient information with the anesthetist, surgeon and other team members. ·       Helps team members to put on sterile gown and gloves ·       Places the surgical equipment, sets other devices appropriately ·       Checks if the surgical site is marked ·       Works on ensuring patient safety during the surgery ·       Checks the expiry date of all equipment used for surgeries and if sterilized in accordance with sterilization conditions.  ·       Monitors the patient during the procedure and alert any changes ·       Counts equipment, gauze / lawn, needles, abdominal pads, with the scrub nurse: before, while & after the surgery by signing the specific checklist.  ·       Records the appropriate information in the OR Nursing sheet. ·       Completes forms for laboratory requests and send the samples as indicated. ·       Maintains the operating room, clean and tidy to ensure a safe and hygienic environment. ·       Notifies staff of the recovery room or any other unit of the expected arrival of the patient. ·       Helps clean the equipment and dispose linen once the operation is completed ·       Assists in the transfer of the patient to the recovery room ·       Coordinates disinfecting the room in preparation for the next procedure  ·       Manages OR Schedule, report to Charge nurse for equipment orders, pharmacy supply, etc … ·       Participates in training to improve his professional practice. ·       Reports incidents and complications secondary to drug interactions/ errors ·       Ensures that the documentation is complete  in the OR Nursing sheet   ·       Documents & registers all materials & drugs used during the operation on specific checklists.
