Emergency Response Programme (Erp) Project Coordinator

We are seeking a full time Project Coordinator for the Emergency Response Programme (ERP) dedicated to Syrian refugee children at risk in Lebanon.  The contract is initially for six months with the possibility of extension depending on the needs and funds. This post is based at the interim care centre in Khenshara, in the Metn region in Mount Lebanon (30 km north east of Beirut). The emergency response project has been running since March 2014. The main activities have been the running of an interim care centre for Syrian refugee children at risk (Interim Alternative Care Centre – IACC) and psycho-social, awareness and empowerment activities for Syrian children and women. We are looking for a dynamic project coordinator who can handle a big responsibility, has experience in project management in inter-disciplinary teams and who has experience with child protection (preferably in emergencies). You will work in close cooperation with the national director of SOS Children’s Villages Lebanon and with the MENA (Middle East North Africa) emergency team.  Main responsibilities of the Project Coordinator: Program implementation: Ensuring good implementation and respect of confidentiality, consent and security guidelines related to children and child protection; Prepares, manages, updates and initiates project activities, work plan and related financial plan, ensuring timely and quality implementation in compliance with the defined project strategy as well as SOS and donor guidelines; Undertakes a detailed technical assessment of needs and gaps for assistance of Syrian refugees in Lebanon; Coordinates with the logistic, administration and finance staffs to procure all equipment, supplies and materials required to implement the project activities, ensuring cost efficiency and accountability in compliance with SOS and donor regulations and procedures; Collecting data from all activities and indicators, monitoring, analysis and reporting; Compiles and finalizes reports of project, according to SOS and donor requirements. Staff supervision and development: Trains, coordinates and supervises all ERP staff directly or indirectly and evaluates their performance;Ensures proper human resource strategy; Maintains open and professional relations with team members, promoting a strong team spirit and providing oversight and guidance to enable staff to successfully perform in their positions; Responsible for staff works plans, work and schedules, and staff training/development activities. Coordination & Representation Develops and maintains effective coordination and long-term relationships with external stakeholders in the child protection sector, representing the emergency project; Active participation in Child Protection Working Groups throughout the country; Contributes to fundraising efforts to ensure sustainability of the ERP. Other: Consistently and proactively monitor/assess the safety and security of the team; promptly reporting concerns or incidents to SOS management and liaising with community leaders and other external parties as required to maintain/enhance the security environment for SOS programs; Other duties as assigned by Emergency Program Coordinator or National Director to enable and develop the emergency programs of SOS Children’s Villages; All SOS staff is required to adhere to the SOS Children’s Villages Standards for Professional Conduct and the SOS country employment policies; Performs any other reasonable duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor. Personal Qualifications: Passionate about helping people improve their lives; Higher relevant university degree, preferably at the graduate degree level, in a related area such as organizational development, child protection with an emphasis on management;   Minimum of 3 years of experience in a management position in a field related to child protection: including at least 1 year in emergency settings. Preferably in Lebanon or Syria, refugees or IDP contexts. Technical competencies: Ability to set high standards for quality of work; Ability to work under pressure; Good communication skills, both written and oral; Ability to work as a team player, share knowledge widely, build relationships and partnerships; Good skills in public relations with partners, institutions and local authorities; Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with analytic approach; Ability to supervise, integrate and work well within multicultural teams and in an international environment; Good skills in analysis and integration of diverse and complex quantitative and qualitative data from a wide range of sources; Ability to achieve results effectively, considering the need for speed, scale and quality; Driving License and willingness to travel within Lebanon following security matters; Fluency in English and Arabic required.
