Consultant- Conflict Resolution

  Consultant- Conflict Resolution Beirut-Mt. Lebanon Objectives IRC has been working in Mount Lebanon to empower and mobilize refugee communities in Mount Lebanon since November 2014 through its Collective Shelter Management and Coordination Program (CSMC). Within the framework of the CSMC program, IRC hopes to conduct awareness raising sessions on conflict resolution and prevention with beneficiary communities. The aim of the training is to help community leaders to analyze and anticipate sources of conflict and develop conflict resolution strategies including mediation and negotiation to help manage conflict within their own communities and to guide interactions with external stakeholders. To this end, IRC seeks a consultant to develop appropriate conflict resolution tools adapted to the displacement context. The consultant should conduct a training session for the CSMC team to introduce the training tools developed to help strengthen their knowledge and skills in the area so they are able to deliver information about the subject effectively.  Scope of Work and Expected Output Overall responsibilities Prepare a manual on conflict resolution and prevention for community leaders with a focus on strategies for conflict management, prevention, and mitigation but specifically aimed at addressing situations and problems related to displacement. The manual should include negotiation, mediation and other dispute resolution techniques, situational analysis, conflict identification and building sustainable consensus. The manual will be used as a guide to design and implement conflict resolution information sessions with community leaders. The manual should be designed in consultation with the CSMC Team Leader and presented to the Team Leader prior to the training of trainers session (2 working days). Develop training tools and design a training of trainers session for the CSMC team. The training should be practical, participatory and interactive including case studies and group work.  The training tools should be designed in consultation with the CSMC Team Leader (1 working day). Implement training of trainers session with the CSMC team (1 working day). Prepare and deliver post training report. The post training report should include an overview of the topics covered, analysis of pre and post tests, and general recommendations for future development of skills in the area (1 working day).  Skills and Qualifications Demonstrated experience managing conflict resolution and prevention programs. Experience designing and facilitating training, particularly training of trainer sessions. Demonstrated skills in capacity building and coaching. Demonstrated knowledge of the displacement context in Lebanon. Excellent verbal and communication skills. Fluency in Arabic and English. Demonstrated commitment to principles of inclusiveness and non-discrimination.
