Municipal Governance Advisor

                      Lebanon Water Project (LWP)   Call for Resumes   Municipal Governance Advisor, Long term position   Background:   DAI seeks Municipal Governance Advisor candidates for the USAID-funded “Lebanon Water Project (LWP).” This five year project will work to increase reliable and sustainable access to potable water for Lebanese citizens; improve water management practices and enhance the efficiency and sustainability of public water utilities, while raising awareness on sustainable water use practices and promote better water governance to help assure long-term protection of Lebanon’s water resources.   General Objective:   The Municipal Governance Advisor will report to and work closely with the Civic Engagement Component Lead to involve municipalities in water management, helping them develop locally appropriate solutions.   Responsibilities:   With the Civic Engagement Component Lead, develop  civil society organizations and lead outreach events. Partner with municipalities and unions of municipalities to outline responsibilities and plans for water management. Ensure women’s involvement in activities with municipalities to address existing concerns and challenges. Collaborate with municipal governments to improve their involvement and strengthen engagement with regional water establishments. Partner closely with the Civil Society Advisor and Institutional Development Team Lead to coordinate activities with CSOs and regional water establishments. Other tasks as assigned.   Qualifications:   Previous professional experience at the municipal level in Lebanon with NGOs, working with unions of municipalities and/or municipalities. Bachelor’s degree in public administration, public policy, management, international development, or related field. At least 3 years of relevant experience working with local governments with and civil society organizations. Previous experience working with a donor funded project preferred. Ability to respond effectively to time sensitive demands and inquiries. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and strong interpersonal skills. Excellent communication skills and ability to relate to people at all levels of an organization and of different multi-cultural backgrounds.
