ROLE PURPOSE:
The Awards Officer will support the Awards Officer in grants management, donor compliance, overseeing grants management systems and reporting to support all SPP grants. The post holder ensures programmes adhere to relevant internal grant management obligations of Save the Children International and external donor / member requirements.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Compliance
To support in ensuring awards are managed in line with SCI Grants and Member and donor policies.
Understand key compliance issues related to different donors (line item flexibility; cost eligibility, donor reporting, source and origin, visibility etc) and ensure compliance in these areas.
To support in ensuring that all proposals, contracts and amendments are appropriately authorized, new awards documentation is properly registered and updated, and that any issues with the award management system are addressed promptly and effectively.
Award Management
Assist in ssupervising tracking of all running awards.
AMS
Support the awards manager in ensuring –and in coordination with Finance Dept- all opportunities, proposals, contracts and amendments with donors are processed and approved through AMS and the system is an accurate reflection of current award status at all times.
Ensure all partners and sub-award agreements are inputted into AMS.
Ensure that all adequate attachments appear on AMS and are retained as part of the award audit trail.
Reporting
Assist the awards manager to ensure that all donor reports are submitted on time and in accordance with the guidance of the donor and member.
Additional
Comply with all relevant SC policies and procedures with respect to fraud, child protection, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor degree in accounting, finance, international development or any related fields.
At least five years experience within the a national or international organization including experience with financial management.
Excellent analytical skills – the ability to analyse complex financial data and design and produce effective management information.
Experience of budgeting and budget management.
Exposure to and familiarity with key donors rules and regulations including USAID, EC, UN etc.
Understanding of financial systems and procedures.
Experience of computerised accounts packages, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage a complex and diverse workload and to work to tight deadlines.
Willingness and ability to dramatically change work practices and hours, and work with incoming surge teams, in the event of emergencies
A full appreciation of the value of co-operation, both internationally and within a team environment.
Written and verbal fluency in English
