Project Description
In partnership with Vivre Positif and with the support of the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), Soins Infirmier et Developpement Communautaire (SIDC) started implementing its project “Speak Up: Human Rights Monitoring System for HIV law reform in Lebanon”.This project, which will be launched by the end of 2015, aims at addressing the challenges faced by individuals living with and affected by HIV/AIDS through building a coalition of civil society organizations composed from LANA (Lebanese AIDS Network Association) members and other organizations to mobilize the general public and advocate for:• A more enabling environment for PLHIV• Their health, legal and social needs• The passage of the HIV/AIDS law
Job Description
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The consultant will attend the project’s Launching Seminar, will participate in the NGOs coalition’s meetings to train and guide them through an appropriate advocacy plan, will help in the preparations for the lobbying meeting with stakeholders and will be involved in the write up of the final project’s report. The number of days needed for the completion of the abovementioned requirements was estimated to be a total of 8 full working days.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• Master’s degree, preferably in the following fields: Public Health/ Political Science/ Media studies/ Social work • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in advocacy planning, training and campaigning • Has a previous work experience with NGOs • Able to work as part of a team• Able to take comprehensive minutes of meetings • Fluent in both spoken and written English and Arabic
TERMS OF REFERENCES
• The advocacy consultant will attend the project’s launching seminar so that he/she learns more about the project• The advocacy consultant will have an introductory meeting with SIDC, VP and coalition members to specify their goals, expectations, partners and opponents etc…• The advocacy consultant will prepare and submit an advocacy plan to the implementing organizations and coalition members• The advocacy consultant will participate in the rest of the coalition meetings to edit the advocacy plan and guide the members through the lobbying process• The advocacy consultant will help the project coordinator prepare for the lobbying meeting with stakeholders• The advocacy consultant will assist in the write-up of the final report: the part related to the advocacy and lobbying processes
