Lebanon Reforestation Initiative Terms of Reference Accounting Assistant   I. INTRODUCTION Project Background Information The Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) is a project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by the United States Forest Service (USFS) that provides technical assistance and institutional support for sustainable native tree reforestation and wildfire management. With administrative offices in Beirut, LRI technical experts manage a multi-year work program of activities throughout Lebanon in collaboration with grassroots organizations and local communities. Accounting Assistant The Accounting Assistant at the Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) is responsible for the effective and efficient processing of financial data. S/he applies accounting principles and procedures, provides accurate and timely financial information to LRI Accountant and LRI Project Director, and ensures appropriate accounting control procedures.   II. PURPOSE OF THE JOB LRI seeks an Accounting Assistant to work with and assist LRI Accountant in all financial procedures. III. EXPECTED DELIVERABLES  In close coordination with LRI’s Accountant, the Accounting Assistant will: -          Handle cash receipts and payments -          Enter daily transactions (cash, wire, cheque payments and receipts) on the accounting software infosoft -          Prepare, process and follow up on interbank transfers -          Process invoices on infosft -          Issue cash payments ( fuel and staff advances), and monitor petty cash account for replenishment purposes -          File accounts paperwork and properly archive them -          Ensure daily cash reconciliation of the Petty cash box -          Assist the accountant in the end of month closure and reconciliation -          Amend supplier lists -          Assist in the V.A.T tax refund -          Assist the accountant in preparation of financial reports, and record daily financial data -          Review and file sign-up sheets for daily workers -          Participate in weekly financial meetings -          Inform suppliers when cheques are ready and follow up with them on receipt of payments -          On the request of LRI Project Director, assume all needed finance and accounting responsibilities of the accountant during any scheduled absence IV. REQUIREMENTS -          Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (emphasis Accounting and/or  Finance) -          2 to 3  years of experience in a similar job -          Ability to work under pressure and on own initiative following compulsory rules and procedures -          Ability to pay attention to details -          Self- starter and proactive -          Excellent communication skills and flexible team player -          Fully conversant with Microsoft Office -          High level of organizational skills and ability to multi task -          Diplomacy and sensitivity when dealing with stakeholders -          High level of confidentiality -          Ability to meet strict deadlines V.
