RESPONSIBILITIES
Objective 1 : Develop a methodology for adapting standardized food distributions to be appropriate for people with dysphagia in emergency distributions contexts which can be used in different crisis situations
a) Develop a methodology for assessing standardized food distributions in a variety of contexts to minimize risks for people with dysphagia receiving food distributions
b) Develop generalized screening questions for identify people who would benefit from an adapted food kit for people with dysphagia
c) Develop training materials for distribution staff to understand dysphagia and the reasons to provide an adapted kit
d) Develop basic education materials for families and individuals with dysphagia on safe feeding
Objective 2 : Design an adapted food basket with basic education materials specific to the Syrian crisis context
a) Liase with local HI team regarding available food items, local recipes and preferences
b) Based on current standardized food baskets distributed, design an adapted food basked for a household including a person with dysphagia. The adaptations could include substitution of other locally available food items/and or adaptation of local recipes using food basket items.
c) Adapt quantities to provide the same calorie intake as the standard kit
d) Provide capacity building to the Handicap International field team to be able to implement this
Objective 3 :Produce the following documents
a) Guidelines and methodology for adapting and distribution food kits for people with dysphagia in emergency food distributions
b) Training materials for distribution staff
c) Education materials for individuals with dysphagia and their carers
d) Food basket adapted from standardized baskets to the Syrian crisis context with calorie count maintained
e) Capacity building of HI staff to implement this program via local partners
f) Recommendations for the future

• At least 5 years’ experience as a Speech Pathologist
• Experience working in low resourced and/or emergency humanitarian contexts
• Proven expertise working with patients with dysphagia
