Environmental Health Promoter

CISP Lebanon is recruiting a full-time Environmental and Health Promoter based in Marjayoun to be involved in the implementation of WASH projects for Syrian Refugees and Affected Populations in South Lebanon.  MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures, the promoter: (A) Assists in planning, monitoring and evaluation and follow up on all activities of the Solid Waste service programme in the Area to which the he/she is assigned, within the framework of the overall objectives, strategies and targets of the programme; (B) Strengthens the institutional capacity of all local partners, such as community based organizations (CBO), schools, kindergartens, health centers, youth clubs, etc. through provision of technical support including training and management in regards to Solid Waste programming; (C) Develops networks, builds and maintains strong relationships with all relevant stakeholders for Solid Waste in programme in the Area to which he/she is assigned and to encourage public/private partnerships, small scale business development and other initiatives specific in relation to Solid Waste Management (SWM); (D) Mobilizes community support and participation in community based projects and activities related to Solid Waste activities and programming; (E) Implements regular awareness sessions and trainings directly on Solid Waste issues; (F) Develops and implements regular SWM activities (e.g clean up campaigns, recycling days and cleanest neighborhood competitions) together with the hygiene promoters and other partners; (G) Prepares monthly reports/updates on Solid Waste promotion activities in the area; (J) Other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor and Project Manager.   Qualification and skills (A)          University degree in public health or similar.  (B)         Experience: i) At least 3 years of relevant work or volunteer experience in community development within a refugee community; ii) Experience in public health or environmental health promotion is a plus; (C) Language Command of spoken and written English and Arabic; (D) Skills and Competencies:  i) Ability to work under pressure and in challenging conditions; ii) Ability to take initiative and maintain cordial relationships with all concerned; iii) Strong communication and organizational skills; iv) Ability to work effectively within a multi-sectorial team, as well as work independently without close supervision; v) Proven ability to work with a multitude of stakeholders, e.g. children, women, community leader; vi) Ability to conduct and coordinate training; vii)Ability to mobilize community resources and potentials; viii)Basic computer literacy; ix) Knowledge of the Lebanon context and environmental issues affecting Syrian refugees living in the area; x) Knowledge of the Lebanese solid waste sector is an advantage.

The commencement date will be immediately after selection, 01/10/2015. The duty station is Marjayoun, South Lebanon and the foreseen duration of the contract is four months, with one month trial period.
