The SO is supervised in a technical capacity by the Area Safety Officer Duties• The conduct of regular Risk Assessments (RA) for Akkar based on the Safety Level System (SLS)• Review and regularly submit updated SLS assessments as required by the Safety Level in Akkar  (e.g. Level 5 – High – requires a monthly review)• Based on the RA, advise the SUB OFFICE MANAGER on achievable and cost-effective mitigation measures through the development of a contextualized Improvement Plan• Monitor MOSS compliance by conducting a MOSS audit as required by the Safety Level (e.g. Safety Level 3 requires a quarterly MOSS audit)• Draft Local Safety Rules (LSR) for the Sub office manager’s approval • Ensure all staff are briefed on the LSR and receive a copy • Brief new staff and visitors on LSR• Ensure appropriate SOPs are developed and implemented• Act as the area level coordinator for the Incident Management Team (IMT) or Emergency Cell (EC) About youTo be successful in this role you must have• Bachelor/Degree in Social work, political science, law or other related field;  • Minimum one year of Experience in a similar field,• Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination and safety of client at all times; • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility.• Computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel); • Fluency in Arabic required.• Ability to communicate in English and write reports in English strongly preferred. Ideally you will also have a master’s degree in security and safety and big experience as a safety officer. We offerAn interesting job in one of the world’s best NGOs. DRC will offer the successful applicant a contract till end of December 2015, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from September 24th and be willing and able to work in Kobayat-akkar.Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National staff.
