Community Engagement Officer

Specific Job Functions:   (examples) Coordinates the activities to identify community stakeholders, conduct needs assessment and response plans, conduct verification tasks and negotiate assistance partnership agreements;   Contribute to work plans and performance reports; Coordinates with technical stakeholders and other entities to ensure that interventions are consistent with project guidelines and policies. Works with the Monitoring, Evaluation and Communications team to ensure that evaluation approaches and indicators accurately reflect the needs, capacity and impacts at the community level. Other duties as assigned.   Required Skills & Experience: A university degree in a relevant field, such as engineering, international development, public administration, business, or a related area; Work experience the area of community mobilization, and experience in municipal service delivery, or community development projects; Previous work or life experience is Syria is preferred; Experience working with online communities and web-based systems for knowledge sharing and/or collaboration; Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing is preferred; Demonstrated the ability to communicate effectively in Arabic, both verbally and in writing; Demonstrated knowledge and experience of the dynamics of the Middle East issues at the national and community levels.  Demonstrated flexibility and creativity in planning and problem solving.   Success Factors: Ability to deal with ambiguity and change; Strong communication and organizational skills;   Excellent interpersonal skill, including patience, diplomacy, willingness to listen and respect for     colleagues.
