Women’s Access to Justice- Phase 2: is a three years program implemented by Justice Without Frontiers in partnership with Oxfam GB in the area of Mount Lebanon. The program aims to contribute to equitable access to formal and informal justice for poor and vulnerable women.
Job Overview/Summary:
Develop and deliver three-day training to a group of 20 women paralegals. The participants will be provided with knowledge on women’s rights in Personal Status Law, and train on skills related to awareness raising skills and planning, organisation, and monitoring skills.
Professional Standards The trainer should have the following competencies and experience:
•Hold a Bachelor degree in legal studies
•Excellent knowledge of legal matters.
• Substance, skills and knowledge in personal status law
• At least 3 years of progressive proven experience in related Human rights trainings.
• Good understanding of the Humanitarian work especially women rights issues
• Good counseling and communication skills
•Experience with community projects, community relations, women’s empowerment preferred.
• Familiarity with civil society and Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) engagement
• Fluency in written and spoken Arabic languages.
Scope of Work:
• Develop the content of the training and teaching aids (including agenda, working methods and procedures, handouts and evaluation forms) which will be discussed with the Project Team;
• Provide trainees with an understanding of personal status law including court procedures and practices.
•Able to be adjusted to match the backgrounds and education levels of women paralegals.
• Prepare women paralegals to become supportive agents to the Concept of gender and Women Empowermentand to women access to justice project in general.
• Provide trainees with practical skills for reaching out to women from the target communities.
• Provide trainees with practical skills for preparing, facilitating and monitoring awareness sessions.
• Help women paralegals in recognizing conflicts of interest present in the religious courts, ensuring their impartiality, and their engagement in non political and appropriate behavior.
• Ensure using interactive, participatory methods such as the use of case studies, visual techniques, simulations, and role playing in paralegal trainings. Women must be given chances to practice using the new awareness raising methods and skills during the training course to make sure that they are able and confident to conduct awareness sessions in the future.
Expected output of the training: Women will improve knowledge collaboratively and skills necessary for designing and delivering basic trainings for other women.
Key Deliverables:
Final Report: After the delivery of the training, the trainer shall submit to the Project Manager a report including the followings:
• Concise presentation of the training sessions content and of applied methods, including the most important, attractive ideas of participants on the discussed subjects;
• Conclusions and recommendations
• Training programme evaluation forms filled in by participants;
