Social Worker

The Social Services Officer is responsible for organizing and coordinating all psycho-social support activities at Van der Lugt Centre. She is the Focal Point for Protection in the Centre and in all Outreach activities. She reports to and coordinates with the Project Director. Key Responsibilities Accompany and collaborate with the Home Visits Team Organize a needs assessment of the people we serve and elaborate this assessment with the Project Director. Organize outreach for vulnerable and high-risk refugee, migrant and undocumented families. Organize support groups to assist refugees in understanding, dealing with and coping with their situations. Develop and supervise psycho-social programmes for vulnerable and high-risk persons. This may include skills-training and entertainment. Be the focal point for protection, responsible for the development and implementation of protection policies with special attention to schoolchildren. Take special care of vulnerable and high risk children, adolescents, and adults among the people we serve. Provide basic counselling to less complex cases of high risk Facilitate access and referral for cases of trauma and high-risk to competent professionals. Support the Team in tasks related to all Protection Issues arising in the Centre and in Outreach. Ensure prompt execution of other tasks which are within the ambit of the position which may be requested by the Project Director as needs occur. Strong organizational and team working skills Good cultural awareness and sensitivity Highly approachable, trustworthy and confidential  Relevant Experience Minimum of 1-2 years of working with children, women and families. Experience in working with refugees and in the field of GBV is a plus.
