Field Officer

Background ACTED is a French humanitarian NGO, founded in 1993, which supports vulnerable populations, affected by humanitarian crises worldwide. ACTED provides continued support to vulnerable communities by ensuring the sustainability of post-crisis interventions and engaging long-term challenges facing our target populations, in order to break the poverty cycle, foster development and reduce vulnerability to disasters. Our interventions seek to cover the multiple aspects of humanitarian and development crises through a multidisciplinary approach which is both global and local, and adapted to each context. Our 4 000 staff is committed in to responding to emergencies worldwide, to supporting recovery and rehabilitation, towards sustainable development. Our teams in the field implement some 380 projects in 34 countries covering the following sectors emergency relief, food security, access to health, education and training, economic development, microfinance, advocacy, institutional support, and regional dialogue, cultural promotion. Assignment The Field officer is in charge of implementing project outreach.  The field officer will work under the supervision of the Senior Field Officer to ensure that targets are reached in their area of intervention for for improving WASH systems to mitigate public health issues in the target communities. Functions   The Field Officer will be responsible for implementing project distributions as per program guidelines and will directly undertake and document the following tasks; Preliminary community consultations, with local residents and local authorities Formation of WASH committees and coordination with ACTED hygiene promotion teams for training of committees Direct contact of beneficiaries through phone communication or household visits; Ensure all project documentation is completed in an accurate and timely manner; Notifies Senior Field Officer in case of any problem or obstacle in the field; Inform relevant ACTED focal points of any security threats or incidents in the field; Skills required -          Experience in outreach or community work -          Strong communication skills -          Experience in distribution or logistics is preferred -          Experience working with local authorities an asset -          Experience in supervising construction works is an asset -          English or French language skills preferred
