Strategic Planning Trainer

Background IWPR is implementing a civil-society focused program in Syria to strengthen and support Syria’s nascent civil society organizations. As part of the program, a CSO Collaboration Conference will be held in September 2015 in Turkey. Over 20 Syrian CSOs plus 3 representatives/mentors from CSOs in the MENA region will be invited to attend the conference. The 3 day conference will serve as a platform for participants to share experiences, discuss major challenges faced by Syrian CSOs and exchange ideas and best practices.    Purpose IWPR is seeking a Strategic Planning Trainer to deliver (in Arabic) a one- day intensive strategic planning training session on 18th September 2015 for local Syrian civil society organizations that are working in support of a peaceful democratic transition of Syria.   The Training will support CSO’s in designing implementable strategic plans that will enhance impact, clarify their current position and support the sustainability of their organization. Scope of Work: The training should help CSO’s understand the benefits of strategic planning and fulfill the following objectives: Support CSOs develop the skills and capacity to analyze the context and the situation of their work Familiarize CSO’s with principles and fundamentals of strategic planning Strengthen CSO’s capability in developing strategic objectives and strategic plans for their organizations. The Trainer will be expected to prepare and design short modules of training in response to training objectives set by IWPR. The trainer will be required Share the outline of training modules and the brief content of each topic in Arabic with the IWPR project team for approval before the training Share all relevant training material with the IWPR team two working days before the training including handouts, PowerPoint presentations, and other relevant material. Deliver the training and work with CSO’s on drafting implementable strategic plans Submit a training report at the end of the training Qualifications and Experience Expertise and experience in strategic planning, particularly for CSO’s Graduate degree with specialism in strategic planning, or relevant field such as management (Desired/Asset) Language skills (Arabic) Understanding of the context/operational environment of CSO’s in Syria and/or the MENA region (Preferred) Suitable candidates are encouraged to apply via email to csos@iwpr.net using CV and cover letter including per day consultancy rate for this assignment.
