Nurse – Bekaa Valley – Majdal Anjar

-Scope of responsibility: •    Ensure nursing care, treatment and follow-up of patients and/or a population in accordance with doctors’ prescriptions, MSF protocols, and respect of universal hygiene standards and according to context. •    Ensure supervision and continuous training of a team in absence of a supervisor nurse. •    Ensure comfort and confidentiality of patients is maintained at all times.   -Function responsibilities include: Patient care Know, apply and make sure universal hygiene standards and security rules are respected for medical premises, routing of patients, routing of linen. Ensure asepsis during all nursing cares. Ensure quality of the sterilization process. Compensate (or make sure that someone can compensate in the right way) patient lack of autonomy especially regarding his feeding, his personal hygiene, his movements and his comfort. Collaborate with Doctor to ensure needs of handicapped/immobile patients are taken into consideration for possible referral to other NGOs, providing patient/caregiver gives consent, ensure transfer of relevant information and contact details of patient to nurse supervisor. Organise and carry out care and treatments according to doctor’s prescription and MSF protocols. Ensure that quality and continuity of care are respected. Carry out surveillance of the patient, assessment of his health state evolution, identification of emergency situation and information of the doctor. In case of emergency, carry out first aid care and treatment according to prior written protocol done by the doctor.         Patient therapeutic education: •          Carry out therapeutic education of the patient (and family) and groups as required using a patient         based approach in conjunction with nurse helper and health promoter. •          Ensure comfort, privacy and confidentiality are maintained and appropriate approach is taken for lactating mothers requiring breastfeeding assessment/attachment assistance.  Management: •          Manage daily and motivate a team of nurse-helpers and cleaners. Supervise the quality of care. Ensure staff training (formal and informal), under the supervision of the hierarchical referent. •          Manage efficiently the pharmacy and medical equipment: sterilisation equipment, drugs orders, follow-up of the stock, storage conditions, inventories, follow-up of expired drugs and their destruction.   Monitoring / reporting •          Participate in the development of the plan of action. •          Participate actively in the monitoring and the reporting of medical activities (correct documentation in patient files, forms, statistics, and reports) and propose analysis of these statistics. •          Provide daily feedback to direct supervisor on activities, number of cases, any notifiable/infectious diseases, or exceptional cases, and summary of the day. •          Ensure a relevant transfer of information to the next duty team. •          Report immediately to the nurse supervisor any problem arising in the service, especially the loss/ robbery/damage of medical equipment or medicines and any difficulties/complaints from patient. -       Maintain pharmacy register and consumption tools. -       Report to nurse supervisor any needs or concerns related to the pharmacy, patients, clinic or context.     Place of work :  MSF Mother and Child Center in Majdal Anjar - Night shifts: Center is open 24/7; DAY AND NIGHT SHIFTS are required.
